Such a hit-maker!
From ‘Habit’ to ‘Far Boy’ to her newest single ‘Midas Touch’, Leah Mason has quickly made a name for herself in the music industry. And btw: We are already counting down to the release of the debut album ‘Hexed’ on July 26.
We had the amazing honor of speaking with Leah about her rising fame, advice for aspiring singers, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
L: “The first time it really clicked for me was probably when I was around 10 years old. I was in a 70s-inspired rock band during that time and we were playing shows all across North Carolina. I was never happier than when I got to be on stage. Once I’d experienced that, I just wanted to be able to feel it over and over again.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single “Midas Touch.”
L: “This was one of the songs I wrote on my Sweden album writing trip. It’s a personal favorite of mine. It actually started out as a little poem on my phone and when I brought it up in my session, everyone was immediately into the idea. I’m so grateful to my co-writers for helping me bring this song to life. I think this song is so special.”
If you had to choose, what is your favorite song you’ve released and why?
L: “If I had to choose my favorite song I’ve released in my career thus far, I would probably choose “Holy Water.” It’s always been a song I’ve felt proud of, and I think it has the ability to stand the test of time.”
Speaking of your discography, you have received over 10 million streams on just Spotify alone! What has been your reaction to your success?
L: “I’m so insanely grateful to everyone who has listened to my music! In all honesty, sometimes it’s hard for me to wrap my head around it. I try not to pay too much attention to the numbers, but it definitely feels good to know people are connecting with your songs.”
What is your best advice to your fans who aspire to be music artists?
L: “I would say being an artist is definitely not for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of endurance, patience, and a willingness for your hard work to go unrecognized for a little while. I almost feel like to really be able to push through it all, it has to be something you need to do, not just want.”
How would you personally describe the music scene in Nashville?
L: “I personally love being an artist and songwriter in Nashville. I feel like there’s a really supportive community here and I’ve been really lucky to find a team that really believes in me. It’s been an amazing experience so far!”
We are so excited about your debut album, Hexed! Can you tease what fans can expect?
L: “Hexed tells a tale of my life over the last year and a half. My early 20’s have been the hardest, strangest yet most rewarding years of my life, and that’s what this album represents for me. It’s definitely a timestamp of my life in recent years. I’m excited for it to finally be out!”
