A teen actor on his rise to stardom!
You might remember this scene-stealer from his incredible role in ‘Yellowjackets’. Now, he is continuing his journey in the limelight with the upcoming series ‘Teacup’.
We had the amazing honor of speaking with Luciano about his infamous death scene, advice for aspiring actors, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
L: “When I was younger I never thought I was going to act, I didn’t watch many movies and kind of lived in my own world. I was extremely focused on soccer which at the time was my passion and my #1 goal to become a professional football player. Funny enough, I got invited to talk about my experiences in a national geographic documentary, and when I had gotten home from being on set, I asked my mother what I had just done was called. And that’s when I fell in love with acting. “
Tell us more about your amazing new role in Peacock’s ‘Teacup’.
L: “I play the role of Nicholas, he’s a very compassionate boy who, while faced with a troubling situation, he tries his best to stay optimistic. I personally relate a lot with Nicholas, which is amazing because I can use real world examples in my acting. I’m very happy to play Nicholas and I’m even happier with the way filming is going.”
Do you think you have anything in common with your character Nicholas Shanley?
L: “Yes I do, it feels great to play a character I can relate to some way, as it makes me more drawn into the world that is created and really helps me with my performance.”
‘Teacup’ is considered a horror series. Are you a fan of the horror genre? Do you have an all-time favorite scary movie to recommend?
L: “While I don’t have an all-time favorite horror movie, I can say that I am a massive fan of the genre. I personally get jumpy in horror movies but that just adds to the fun. I feel like you can really connect with people through scary movies as weird as that sounds.”
Your role in ‘Yellowjackets’ also took a horror approach, specifically in the death scene. Were you able to watch it back or was it too much?
L: “Yes, I watched it back a lot of times. A part of acting is rewatching your work and noticing flaws and things you could improve or do differently. I had a great time filming that scene and it’s definitely a story to tell.”
If you had to choose, what has been the most validating experience in your career thus far?
L: “Wow, good question. I am my biggest fan while also being my biggest critic. It’s hard for me to receive compliments as sometimes I subconsciously think it isn’t genuine. It’s an issue I struggle with, but am trying to work around it. To answer your question, the most validating experience is when I myself feel really happy with the way I acted because then I feel happy and confident.”
What is your best piece of advice for aspiring young actors who are working toward their big break?
L: “Keep your head up. Be respectful to everyone you meet and focus on improving your craft. Stay humble and genuinely enjoy what you do.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
L: “You can follow me on Instagram at lerouxluciano. Thank you so much for this, it was really fun to answer these questions. Have a great day!”
