She is so fetch!
If you haven’t watched the 2024 remake of ‘Mean Girls’, then what are you waiting for? With an incredible soundtrack and Allison Winn as a part of the cast, it’s no shock it’s one of the best movies of the year.
We had the amazing honor of speaking with Allison about her favorite character from the original film, her tea obsession, and more!
What first inspired you to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?
A: “I grew up dancing, and my mom was a professional ballet dancer, so a life in the arts always felt natural and exciting to me. I would say being on stage as a dancer really inspired me, and also watching classic, golden-age movies.”
Tell us more about your character Caroline Krafft! Do you think you have anything in common with her?
A: “Caroline Krafft is a smart, confident, and driven student who competes against Cady Heron during the final Mathletes competition. Unlike Caroline, I am not a Mathlete and for me, the “limit” DOES exist!”
Are you a fan of the original movie? If so, then we have to know who your favorite character was!
A: “I am a huge fan of the original movie! The 2004 film was so formative for me that I can quote almost every line. Out of the main characters, I really love Karen because she is so endearing, but I also love the emotional girl in the auditorium who “doesn’t even go here.”
What was your experience like filming the movie? Any funny/interesting moments that stood out to you?
A: “It was such a joy to work on, but so surreal to be inside the world of this story I grew up watching for so many years. Watching Tina Fey recreate Ms Norbury again was especially surreal. Everyone was so funny and talented, Mahi Alam (Kevin G) made me laugh after every single take!”
What can fans of the original film expect from the new adaptation?
A: “You can expect to see all of the same, beloved characters, lots of nostalgia, and of course— WAY more singing and dancing!”
Mean Girls is such an iconic musical! If you couldn’t choose it, what would be your favorite musical and why?
A: “I’ve had the soundtrack to Sweet Charity stuck in my head this week, so I’m going to go with Sweet Charity! It has some of the best Fosse dancing ever, epic 60s fashion, and the Fellini film it’s based on, Nights of Cabiria, is also incredibly beautiful.”
What is one fun fact that you would love for your fans to know about you?
A: “I am a tea drinker exclusively, no coffee for me. I have at least two cups per day, and by cups I mean tea that is served in mugs the size of my head and nothing less.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
A: “Please follow along for updates on Instagram at @allisonwinn!”
