She is an icon in the making!
From singing to modeling to acting, Daisy Close is a triple threat that is quickly making a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Daisy about singing with Kelly Clarkson, Cruella De Vil, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in entertainment?
D: “Thank you so much for having me! There was never really a specific moment when I realized I wanted to pursue a career in entertainment. I grew up with a strong love and passion for the performing arts. It was more of a dawning realization; as I grew older, my dreams in entertainment only grew stronger, and I knew that I wanted to do this forever. I quickly discovered that the entertainment industry was a business I could and wanted to pursue. I also quickly discovered how hard the show business was to break into. It was always hard for me to figure out what was the next approach or step to take in my career since, growing up, I never knew anyone who was also pursuing a career in entertainment quite like me. I knew I had to take the responsibility upon myself to learn everything I could if I truly wanted to make it in this industry. Lucky for us, this world is filled to the brim with resources, and the opportunities are endless for those who are willing to remain dedicated to their craft and put in the long hours of hard work for them.
Pursuing this career has taught me so much, not only about the entertainment industry but also about myself as an individual. It has instilled this newfound confidence, self-assurance, and belief in myself that I believe no other career path would have allowed me to discover. Believing in yourself has to be the most important thing in show business because how can you possibly pitch yourself to casting directors or music executives if you don’t believe in what you have to offer as both an individual and a creative? It all starts with a dream and the amount of belief you have in both yourself and that dream. I think it’s so beautiful to look back and see the journey unfold over the years while you watch that one unrealistic dream blossom into something bigger than anyone could have ever imagined. This career has taught me the importance of taking care of myself as an individual so that I can also feel and look my best for
my future career aspirations. As hard as my journey has been throughout the years trying to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
Through all of the struggle, I have seen the most tremendous amount of growth in myself, which I now commend myself for. Keeping my faith alive in my dreams and myself through the lowest points of my life has to be one of my proudest accomplishments because it takes a lot of guts to choose to keep fighting to keep that hope alive, especially when it seems like nobody else is listening or watching, but trust me, even through the darkest of times they are. Pursuing a career in the entertainment industry has also taught me how to be my own entrepreneur and so much about the more tactical sides of business, which heavily involve presenting myself as both an individual and creative. But at the end of the day, it’s all about the unbreakable love and passion I have for the entertainment industry. I’ve never been more sure about anything else in my life. Nothing else brings me more joy. I just know in my heart that this is my purpose in this world. This was exactly what I was created to do. I was truly born to entertain.”
You recently performed at the iconic Carnegie Hall! What was that experience like?
D: “Performing my solo debut at Carnegie Hall as a first-place winner in an international competition in New York City was such an incredible experience! Ever since I was young, one of my goals on my dream board was to perform at Carnegie Hall one day. Stepping on that stage and being able to close my eyes for a second in time and take it all in felt so surreal. It felt just like I always imagined it would. It was truly magical. Just performing around Christmas time in New York in and of itself gave me chills. Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I was surrounded by such bliss everywhere around me. It was an opportunity of a lifetime that I will always look back on and be so grateful for.”
We see that you are getting into modeling! What do you love the most about modeling and
fashion?
D: “Yes! I have been modeling mainly in the commercial and print categories ever since I was a child. I’ve been on and off with modeling throughout the years, but my modeling career has reached new heights like never before in 2023. I really enjoy modeling and see myself pursuing it for a long time. Being American-Peruvian, I also want to represent my community as a model by offering representation and diversity, which are needed in the modeling industry. I love how all art forms are created, but what I love most about modeling is how I’m able to create a piece of work that never existed before as a model. It gives me the creativity and freedom to create whatever I feel is necessary to have my message and voice both seen and heard as a creative. I speak through my art, and I want others to be able to look at my work and know exactly what I want to say. I’ve always been into fashion. One of my favorite classics of all time is Cruella de Vil. I thought the 2021 film adaptation of Cruella starring Emma Stone was beyond phenomenal, and I was fascinated to witness Cruella’s journey as a designer and the unique thought process formulated behind her brilliant ideas and creations that she had as an artist when it came to her precise sense of style and desire in fashion.”
You are an actress, singer, and model (triple threat!). If you had to choose, which is your favorite out of the three?
D: “That question isn’t allowed. I’m just joking, but seriously, that has got to be the hardest question I’ve ever been asked in an interview setting. I simply can’t choose between singing, songwriting, and acting. I have such a unique and unbreakable bond with each that I would be incredibly torn to have to choose one. As a creative, I fully thrive and depend on all three. I’ve been singing and songwriting practically since I was out of the womb, and it sensibly got me through and continues to get me through the hardest times of my life. I’ve been acting since the age of four, growing up in musical theatre and being in practically every one of my community and school plays and musicals. I was always the artsy kid. The choir nerd, the theatre geek It was just who I was. I grew up with a strong ambition to constantly surround myself with the performing arts, so as I grew older, my dedication and desire to pursue singing, songwriting, and acting only grew stronger and more powerful than ever. I owe a lot of recognition to my mom. She quickly realized how passionate I was about the performing arts at such a young age and put me in practically every single voice, acting, and dance class we could find to begin honing in on my craft as a young performing artist. I’ve always taken my passion for the performing arts very seriously, which unfortunately yet understandably led to a lot of bullying and teasing as I got older. Most people never understood why I felt so strongly about the performing arts, simply because they never knew that it was the foundation of everything I’ve ever known in my life. The performing arts have ultimately taught me the most important lesson in life, which is about the fulfillment of life. As unrealistic as my dream seemed to some, I never let it discourage me from chasing after what I knew was meant to be in my heart, mind, body, and soul.”
You performed with Kelly Clarkson! What was that experience like for you? Were you expecting that to happen?
D: “Yes! Oh gosh, that was such an unreal experience for me. It would definitely be up there with the top ten moments of my life. Firstly, I am a huge Kelly Clarkson fan, and I practically live on her Christmas music every winter season. But the weirdest part is that me and Kelly Clarkson have so many similarities as both individuals and artists. Kelly Clarkson grew up in a small town in Texas as did I; she began her career working as a performer at Six Flags Over Texas as did I; I actually performed in the exact same costume Kelly Clarkson wore back when she worked there as a performer; we both have strong powerhouse voices; and I have faced a lot of the same struggles she’s had to face and overcome in her personal life. That’s one of the many reasons why I resonate with her music so much. Just being able to meet one of my idols and get the chance to talk with her felt absolutely surreal, but being given the opportunity to sing with one of my idols.
I’ve listened to her for so long was truly the best gift anyone could have ever granted me. It was definitely a once-in-a lifetime unexpected opportunity I will never take for granted. It was one of those pinch me moments because it just simply didn’t feel real in the moment. It felt like a fever dream. Reality didn’t fully hit me until much later. It opened so many doors and immense opportunities for me as an artist, and for that I am so grateful.”
If you could perform with any music artist, who would it be and why?
D: “Ooh, that’s such a hard question! I’m torn. Ok, I’m just going to pick one. If I had to pick just one artist to perform with, I would have to pick Beyonce. I am and have always been a huge Beyonce fan and a 2000s baby. I just admire Beyonce in so many ways. I admire the strength and confidence she embodies as a female artist. I am always blown away by the undeniable talent she holds as a vocalist and the stage presence she commands as a performer. I also admire the compassion and belief she has for others. I grew up listening, dancing, and singing to her music, and it played a huge part in my childhood as a young artist. She was and will always be a role model to me and so many other women in several ways.”
Can we expect more music from you in the future?
D: “Oh absolutely! As a matter of fact, this year I will actually be releasing the most new music I’ve had so far in my career as an independent musical artist. In 2023, I will be releasing my debut EP solo album as well as my debut EP solo Christmas album. So lots of music will be delivered from my heart to yours very soon! I have been hard at work in the studio, recording for hours and days on end. This has been a huge goal of mine for so long, and I am so happy to finally see it all coming together. Years of work have been put into these two albums I have set to be released in 2023, and it feels so bittersweet and surreal to see it all come to life. I am proud to say that I have written all of the material for all of my upcoming music. I’m not allowed to talk too much about my original music at the moment, but there are lots of surprises to be revealed very soon, so be on the lookout for those announcements on my social media and website. I’m beyond excited to release my music, and I hope you all resonate with it as much as I do.”
