Disney’s Emma Berman Talks About ‘Luca’ And Role In ‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’

A rising star!

Emma Berman is taking voice acting to the next level. She currently voices the character Nash Durango in the Disney series ‘Young Jedi Adventures!’

We had the amazing honor of talking with Emma about voice acting, balancing school with work, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in entertainment?

E: “I first realized that I was interested in performing in elementary school. I really loved theater and started getting involved in my school shows as well as performing in a number of community and professional theater productions all around the Bay Area. I wanted to learn more about the entertainment industry and decided to take acting classes and on-camera workshops, and at one of these classes, I was scouted by STARS the agency in San Francisco, and that’s how my journey started.”

Tell us more about your amazing role in ‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’.

E: “I absolutely love voicing Nash Durango in the Star Wars animated series “Young Jedi Adventures!” Nash is such a charismatic and lovable character; she is confident, dexterous, lively, and absolutely hilarious! She is a very good friend to Kai, Lys, and Nubs and she goes on many fun adventures with the Jedi younglings around the galaxy.”

Are you a Star Wars fan? Do you have a favorite character from the series?

E: “I am a huge Star Wars fan! I watch “Revenge of the Sith” at least once a week and I adore all the Star Wars films and animated series! My favorite Star Wars character has got to be Yoda, but Padme is a close second!”

This isn’t your first Disney role! You also voiced a character in ‘Luca’! What was that experience like?

E: “That’s correct! Being able to say my first movie role was voicing for Pixar and for such an iconic character like Giulia is absolutely mind-blowing! This month was actually Luca’s second year release anniversary and to this day, all my friends will often tell me how much their whole family enjoys the movie and I know many, including myself, are re-watching Luca regularly! I love hearing all the positive reactions and to know that Luca touched the hearts of so many fans around the world makes me very proud and honored.”

Since you are a part of the Disney family, what are some of your favorite Disney shows and movies? Any recommendations?

E: “My favorite Disney movies are ‘Alice and Wonderland’ and ‘Aladdin’ and my favorite Disney show is ‘Sydney to the Max!”

What do you enjoy the most about the voice acting process?

E: “What I enjoy most about the voice acting process is having people who watch my shows tell me about how inspired they are with my performance and the characters I voice. The thought that I have contributed to something that evokes positive emotions and inspires people fills me with so much purpose and pride. In that sense, voice acting has been truly a very rewarding experience!”

How do you balance your successful acting career with your school work?

E: “It has not been too difficult because the recording studios I have been fortunate to work with have always booked my sessions around my school hours so there has never been a conflict with my studies. I will be starting 10th grade this fall and I look forward to continuing working on my voiceover projects while also taking challenging classes like AP World History and Advanced English 2 at school. I am grateful to have this balance of living a regular teenage life while also being a kid actor!”
