Are you a Corporate Baddie?
Well, he is! DeAndre Brown rose to fame for being a successful content creator and entrepreneur. He is the founder of his own consulting company, Generation Extra Large (Gen XL).
We had the amazing honor of talking with DeAndre about his goals, his advice for his fans to become Corporate Baddies, and more!
Were you always such a driven go-getter?
D: “Yes, since a young age, I have always worked hard and put my best foot forward in all that I did. I knew I was destined for greatness and was frequently reminded by my strong support system. Even when I had yet to decide what I wanted to do, I made sure I worked hard at all things because you never know where one thing can lead.”
Tell us more about your company Generation Extra Large (Gen XL).
D: “Gen XL is a consulting agency that has the purpose of helping others thrive off of their passions. In a world where a lot of people feel the need to conform, Gen XL goes against that. I believe that true societal changes can’t occur until people feel more supported to live out what they were destined for.
There are so many people today who desire to make an impact online, and there are people who want to make an impact in Corporate America. I will utilize my expertise from working in both fields to help clients receive brand offers & top job offers.”
What inspired you to start your own company?
D: “I saw a huge opportunity to give back. Daily, I receive dozens of messages from people asking for career or influencer advice. While I try my best to answer everyone, I can only explain so much. By creating Gen XL, I can tailor my services to clients’ needs and help guide them to make a huge impact in their desired fields.”
You have attended so many amazing events! If you had to choose, which would have been your favorite?
D: “My favorite event was having the opportunity to give a Ted Talk. Since high school, I have always envisioned myself giving one. Ted Talks are a huge part of my life, and so many have educated and inspired me as I learned to navigate myself and what I wanted from life. By giving a Ted Talk, I was able to live out my life passion. Giving back & inspiring others.”
You have nearly 40 Million likes on TikTok! What has been your reaction to your social media success?
D: “I was surprised at first by the success. I never thought videos of me goofing off at my computer would lead to a substantial cultural discussion about Generation Z in the workforce. However, I am forever grateful. I truly feel as if I am being used in order to help others feel inspired to live out their dreams. When I read comments from people about how I encouraged them to leave a toxic job or to ask for a raise, that is the time that I sit back and say, “Wow, thank you, God!”
What advice can you give to your fans to become their own Corporate Baddies?
D: “Continue to advocate for yourself and never let anyone discourage you from doing what you believe you are destined to do. Times may get hard, and you may go through periods of loneliness and feel completely lost. However, that is all a part of the journey & there are a lot of lessons to be learned during those uncertain periods. Remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint. You have time. Stay focused on working on the thing you love, and eventually, you will reap the benefits.”
You have already achieved so much! What are some of your next goals for your career and your company?
D: “My goals are to continue growing and expanding GenXL and be on television sometime soon.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
