A double threat!
From singing to acting, Hailey Hermida is constantly showing off just how talented she is. And when she’s not working, she’s spending time making amazing content with her family on TikTok.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Hailey about voice-acting, ‘Klaus’, and more!
You are coming out with an EP sometime in 2023 that features 8 songs! What is your favorite song on the EP?
H: “My favorite songs change depending on my mood, but right now it’s a song called “Hurting Me”. I played it at The Mint in LA. I’m also thinking about doing a rock version of it. The release date is to be determined.”
In 2022, You released a song called “How these things go” as part of the EP! Why did you decide to release this song first?
H: “Although I’ve decided not to include it in the EP, “How These Things Go” is a very special song to me because it was the first one I ever worked on. It was recorded in my producer’s home studio, and we loved it because it was raw and unfiltered – it wasn’t mixed or mastered. The fact that it was the first beat we worked on together made it even more meaningful to us.”
Your most recent single “Never mattered to you” is available on all streaming platforms and was mastered by John Greenham who is part of Billie Elish’s team! What was it like working with him?
H: “It was really cool to work with John Greenham. Even though we didn’t get to meet in person, he was super helpful and friendly. We worked together through emails, and he gave me some great advice and feedback. I feel really lucky to have had the chance to collaborate with someone so talented in the music industry!”
You played a role in the Oscar-nominated film ‘Klaus’! How did you feel about being part of this film?
H: “Being part of ‘Klaus’ was truly amazing. I can still remember the day when I went to the studio to record my character’s lines, and how the Director Sergio Pablos gave me directions over a Zoom session. It was exciting to work on such an outstanding project and to lend my voice to a character in an animated film. Being a part of such a talented cast and crew was an honor, and I feel really proud to have worked on this movie.”
You have done some voice-over characters as well! How is voice-over different from acting in front of the camera?
H: “Both voice-over acting and on-camera acting require an understanding of character, story, and emotion. However, voice-over acting is more focused on the technical aspects of acting. In voice-over acting, your voice is your primary tool. You have to use it to create a character, to tell a story. You need to be able to project your voice, control your tone, pitch, and pace, and enunciate your lines clearly.
On the other hand, when you act in front of a camera, you have the added advantage of using your physicality, facial expressions, and body language to convey emotions and tell a story. So, while both types of acting require skill and understanding, voice-over acting is more focused on using your voice as the primary tool, while on-camera acting is more focused on using your whole body to bring the character to life.”
Do you prefer singing or acting?
H: “It’s difficult for me to choose between singing and acting because both allow me to express myself creatively in different ways. When it comes to singing, I find a lot of joy in songwriting. Writing my own music allows me to express my thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a way that feels authentic and genuine to me. It’s a very personal and cathartic process, and being able to share my music with others and have them connect with it is an incredibly rewarding feeling.
On the other hand, acting allows me to step into someone else’s shoes and explore different emotions and perspectives. It’s an opportunity to tell stories that can resonate with people and create meaningful connections with others through shared experiences.
Overall, both singing and acting allow me to express myself in unique and fulfilling ways, and I feel incredibly grateful to be able to pursue both of these passions.“
Your mission is to use your creative drive and artistic talents to connect people! How do you use your creative drive and talents to connect with people?
H: “I always try to connect with people by sharing my own experiences and emotions through my work. Whether it’s through my music or acting, I strive to create content that people can relate to and find meaning in. I also enjoy collaborating with other artists and creators to combine our unique perspectives and create something that resonates with a wider audience. Ultimately, my goal is to create a sense of community and bring people together through the power of music, storytelling, and art.”
