Calling all Grease fans!
Known for her impressive dancing background, Charlotte Kavanagh currently stars in one of the biggest shows for musical theatre lovers. She plays the role of Rosemary in ‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Charlotte about one of her career goals, Zendaya, and more!
What inspired you to start your career as an actress?
C: “Coming into the industry of film of TV I didn’t see myself becoming an actress, even though there was a part of me wanting to, I just never admitted it to myself. I got to work on many productions as a dancer, which was always the main dream. After my agent submitted me to some acting auditions and suggested acting classes, a light bulb turned on in my head and my heart was filled with this new passion. I watch a lot of TV shows and realizing I could become a character on someone else’s favorite show got me so inspired to pursue this career. Telling stories that can affect real people and their lives is quite magnificent.”
What was your favorite part about acting in ‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies’?
C: “There are so many favorite moments, where do I start! Everyday on set was so fun, the cast and crew became family and I haven’t laughed that hard for so long ever in my life. Adding to the Grease universe and having the privilege to be a part of it is an electrifying feeling and I love that I got to sew together my two passions of dance and acting for my first bigger role as an actress.”
If you could describe ‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies’ in three words, what would they be?
C: “Magnetizing, whimsical and camp.”
Besides Grease, what is your current favorite musical and why?
C: “It’s a toss up between Hairspray and Chicago which are two very different musicals. Hairspray is so powerful in its message while also having the most catchy songs and fun dance numbers. Chicago is giving unhinged unapologetic women with music I could break dishes to and have the best time. I love me a strong ensemble dance heavy musical.”
Who would be your dream actor to collaborate with?
C: “I’d really love to work with Zendaya, her performance In Euphoria was so raw and chilling, I’d love to get the chance to work with her on something either chaotic or comedic or both!”
What is one of your career goals for the future?
C: “I’d love to write and star in my own series one day. I’ve been writing down ideas in my notes for years and hope that it will all come in handy for when I start.”
What is one of your best tips for other aspiring young actresses?
C: “Don’t give up, don’t set a deadline for when you should “Make it” keep acting for your love of it and all will fall in place when it’s time.”
