We can’t wait for her debut EP!
Following the release of her debut single ‘Elegance’, Nikita Lev is back with another bop. Today, she released her second single ‘Like I Care’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Nikita about advice to young girls who want to become singers, Elliott Smith, and more!
The last time we talked you released your debut single ‘Elegance’! How have you been?
N: “Been alright! Thanks for asking. Got to go back home for a spell which was nice to recoup, see some friends, relax a bit.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Like I Care’.
N: “Like I Care is a funny one because I wrote it really quickly, it sort of started out as an exercise and became a song. It’s about New York in a sense, just kind of observing people and their lives over a Leonard Cohen-type melancholia.”
Quick: What is the last song you listened to?
N: “Miss Misery by Elliott Smith.”
What advice can you give to young girls who want to pursue a career in music?
N: “I think it’s all been said before but my advice is listen to good music and read a lot. It’s so inspiring to consume good art and then turn around and want to make your own. And don’t judge yourself too harshly when the work you initially make sucks. You can’t write a good song your first try. It just wouldn’t be fair.”
We hear that you are releasing your debut EP in June! Can you tease what fans can expect?
N: “More of the same but different.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
N: “Instagram’s a solid option- @nikital3v or Spotify would be great.”
Stream ‘Like I Care’, available now on all music platforms!
