This amazing singer is back with another bop!
Mark Taylor is a country artist you need to know. Today, he released a new single entitled ‘Dust Off That Dirt’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Mark about performing live, moving to Nashville, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
M: “For the longest time, I was trying to avoid actually doing the music industry because I had heard so
many horror stories about being a songwriter and an artist and how cut throat it is. I actually took an
internship in college on the business side of things as I thought I wanted to be on the label side. I
ended up having my first big cut with a talented artist named Amii Stewart, she sang the 1979 #1
“Knock on Wood.” This single with her propelled me to at least consider moving to Nashville to do
the artist and songwriter thing. You could say I got bit by the bug! I’m still here and having a great
time. Loving every minute.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Dust Off That Dirt’.
M: “Thanks so much! I’m glad you love it as much as I do! I wrote this with a good buddy of mine, Dan
Harrison, and we wanted to write a song about just kicking off your shoes and going out to the
country to kick the dust up a little bit. We were really shooting for something that people can dance
to during the summer time and have playing when they’re driving with the windows down! I can’t wait
for folks to hear it!”
What has been your personal favorite song you have released so far and why?
M: “As cheesy as it sounds, My new single “Dust Off That Dirt” is probably my favorite. Leland Grant, my
Producer, really did amazing work on this track and I’m so excited to share this with the world.”
If you could collab on a song with any country artist, who would it be?
M: “This one’s easy, Garth Brooks. Every time we play live, we try to embody what Garth does in his live
show. The way he interacts with people, the way his music comes across, and the way he makes a
genuine connection with every single person in those stadiums is something to be proud of. If I could
collaborate with anybody on any song, he would, for sure, be the first call!”
You perform a lot! What do you love the most about performing live?
M: “I love going out and putting on a show for the fans! It always makes me so happy to see people that
are enjoying the music, and when we can all dance and sing together, it makes it so much better. I’m
a firm believer that touring is how you build a fan base, and I love going to different and new parts of
the country to meet people and see new faces.”
How is the music scene in Nashville different from Maryland?
M: “The Maryland music scene does not have as much country obviously as Nashville does, I was one
of only a few guys when I was there that was really doing country music. Coming to Nashville has
been such a breath of fresh air because so many people are doing this for a living, and it’s amazing
to have many great people working alongside you every single day that know the ins and the outs of
the country music industry specifically.”
What are some of your biggest goals for your career?
M: “We’re shooting for the stars with this one! My dream one day is to be selling out stadiums, having
number one hits, and to make people feel a genuine connection to the music.”
