A singer you need to know!
Singer-songwriter Savanna Leigh is taking her music career to new heights! She recently released a new single entitled ‘arms length’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Savanna about her songwriting process, her upcoming EP, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
S: “I think I’ve always known honestly. Ever since I can remember it’s the only career path I’ve ever considered pursuing. Coming from a musical family and being raised in that environment I think it was only natural that I was instantly drawn towards music.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘arms length’.
S: “Thank you so much! My song “arms length” is a song I wrote when I first reconnected with my ex after we’d broken up. He was my first love but also my friend long before we dated so I thought we could remain friends after some time had passed. But the truth is I hadn’t moved on and neither had he and we kept seeing each other which didn’t help the healing process at all. It’s a song for anyone trying to keep someone at a distance but know if they could easily pull you back in if they wanted to. This song is different sonically than any other song I’ve released. I am so excited about all of the reactions I’ve gotten so far on “arms length”, I feel extremely grateful.”
What is your songwriting process like?
S: “My songwriting process changes often. But I guess something that stays pretty consistent is I tend to write alone a lot in my room, usually late at night, and come up with melody or lyric ideas I’m excited about. Usually I try to finish half a song or write some verses and a chorus and then bring that into sessions. It helps me in a room with other writers to get my vision across when I’ve already got an idea started prior to the session rather than starting from scratch. I tend to write lyrics and the melody at the same time but not always.”
What has been your favorite song you have released so far, and why?
S: “I would say my song “hope ur doing good” might be one of my favorites I’ve ever released. Mainly because that song is one I am extremely proud of. Lyrically the message is something that holds a special place in my heart, it’s a more hopeful song, and writing it was a real turning point in my healing journey after being heartbroken. I hadn’t realized how far I’d come until after I finished writing “hope ur doing good”. It is a song I can always reference when giving advice that eventually time heals.”
If you could collab on a song with any music artist, who would it be and why?
S: “There are so many artists I’d love to collab with but I’d say a dream collab would be frank ocean. His music is so unique to him and he’s always been so authentic in his art and has stayed true to himself. I really admire him and his work as a creative and as a songwriter.”
You have over 2 Million streams on just Spotify alone! What has been your reaction? Is there
anything you want to say to your fans?
S: “It’s insane to think about how many people are listening and finding my music. Just a couple years ago I hadn’t even released my first single yet so it’s just crazy. I feel extremely grateful to my fans that I get to make music and my only hope is that any person who is a fan of mine feels less alone in whatever they are feeling, and that they feel connected to me through the stories I tell in my songs.”
We hear that you have an EP coming up this year! Can you tease what we might expect?
S: “Yes! I am so excited for this upcoming EP!! Only teaser I’ll give is “arms length” is just scratching the surface of the overall story I hope to tell in this next project. I am so ready to connect with fans this year in a whole new way. For the first time I’m writing and releasing songs that are applicable to my currently which makes it even more scary and vulnerable. So I am excited to see what comes next.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
S: “On any platform TikTok, snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, etc.!!”
