This isn’t the first time you’ve heard of HALIE.
If you’ve heard her voice before, you might recognize it from when she went on (and won) NBC’s Songland. Today, she’s back with a brand-new single titled ‘Heart Of A Man’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with HALIE about her rising fame, dream collab, and more!
Tell us more about your amazing single ‘Heart Of A Man’. What is its meaning?
H: “I recently went through a really bad break up, that I still really am not over. I thought maybe if I could just understand the heart of a man, I could have figured out my past partner’s motive and know what really went wrong and when it did. The day I wrote the song, I actually cried in the studio. So it’s definitely a very personal one for me.”
We have to talk about Songland! You nailed it! Did you enjoy your experience on the show? Do you think it had a lot of influence on starting your music career?
H: “I absolutely loved being on Songland! I will never forget my experience on that show or forget all that I learned. I never won anything in my life, so winning something as major as that really gave me a boost of confidence I need going back to Nashville. It had a major influence on my career, becauss before that show I was feeling a little lost and wondering if anything I did even mattered. The songs I was writing I felt like no one could even hear because I had such a small following on social media. But that show gave me the biggest boost I could ever ask for. I am so grateful for that experience, and so happy Martina Mcbride decided she wanted that song.”
What has been your reaction to the fact that you have over 100K+ streams on Spotify?
H: “It’s a little mind blowing, especially since I just started putting out music a year ago, and only have out 2 songs. When I start releasing a bunch of music I can’t wait to see how far it can go.”
Knowing what you know now, would you recommend aspiring performers to go on a TV show?
H: “Honestly, being on any TV show you just need to know that everything is for other’s entertainment. Being yourself in the most authentic way is so important. You need to have the ability to connect to the audience viewers. And ask yourself, “what makes me unique and different?” You need to show it! Also, whether you like it or not, you will have a lot of nerves and adrenaline before those performances. So it’s important to be getting a lot of sleep and being patient with yourself while you are there filming.”
You moved to Nashville a few years ago. How are you enjoying music city? How would you describe the music scene?
H: “I absolutely love Nashville. I’ve been to every major city in the US and I don’t think I have felt anymore at home than here. I feel in my gut like I’m meant to be here. And hopefully here forever.. The music scene here feels like high school though, unfortunately. People are clicky, and talk a lot of other’s business. You have to be very careful and selective on who you spend your time with. Because if you aren’t careful you will find that people here can be very fake. But that’s not everyone. I have recently been blessed with new friends and a new team. I am the most happiest I have been in the past 4 years of living here. It just takes time to figure out where you belong sometimes.. As an artist, and a human being.”
If you could collab with any music artist on a song, who would it be and why?
H: “I would love to collab with HARDY, mostly because he’s so different, and has great songs.. but also how funny would it be to see HALIE and HARDY on a single cover? You just have to have your name alone and all capitalized am I right?!”
What are some of your biggest goals for your music career?
H: “I would love to go on tour one day and meet the people who have been following me on social media. But, i’m known to dream big, so I think the biggest goal is to win a CMA award or even a grammy! Because why not?”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
H: “You can follow me on every social media platform by @halieofficial. On tiktok it is @halieofficial1.”
