We love this singer-songwriter!
With over 2 Million monthly streams on just Spotify alone, Garrett Kato’s career is being taken to new heights. He recently released a new single entitled ‘Losing Touch’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Garrett about the music scene in Australia, his music sound, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in the music industry?
G: “I always had massive interest in music and was a big fan of music in early high school and middle school. But it wasn’t until I started to write songs that I found it was something really special. I became obsessed with songs, production and even technical aspects of sound engineering. I don’t think it was a conscious decision to make the jump, but more like it started taking up all my time so naturally it became a career.”
How would you personally describe your music sound?
G: “I jump around genres a lot so it hard to describe in that regard, but the underlying theme always seems to be songs of high emotional depth and feeling. That the goal most times I’m making music. I tend to lean toward more organic sounds or etherial tones to give the listener a little sonic world to live in. So in conclusion I’d call it alone time music, music to listen to when you’re needing to escape the noise and the craziness of the world.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Losing Touch. What is its meaning?
G: “Thank you! It’s quite a common topic I think, Losing Touch is a story about fall out of touch with yourself as a person and masking it with a life that appears to be ok, when in fact it really isn’t.”
What is the music scene like in Australia?
G: “So good, I think Australians are lucky so much live music everywhere and very appreciative crowds. There’s a few scenes that have emerged like the Australian Coastal Folk scene is massive and really is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It really encompasses a passion for life and nature and I’m all for it.”
You have over 100 Million streams on Spotify! What has been your reaction to your success?
G: “I’m so fortunate, honestly there’s a million other songwriters that are writing incredible songs that don’t get to have the opportunity of listeners I feel so very thankful.”
Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
G: “I love you.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
G: “The usual suspects Tik Tok, instagram and my mailing list!”
