This is definitely not the first time you’ve heard of Rachel Grae.
With nearly 1 Million followers and well over 15 Million likes on just Tik Tok alone, music artist Rachel Grae is quickly becoming the next superstar (Mark our words!). Today, she’s back with a brand new single called ‘How Dare You.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Rachel about her favorite released song so far, dream music collabs, and more!
What inspired you to start making music?
R: “Growing up, I always had a huge passion for helping people around me. My dream was to go into psychology or anything related to mental health. When I started writing music, I realized the impact I can make through the stories I tell. I was never one to speak about my emotions (which I talk about in my song Outsider)… I always wrote it down. Once songwriting became the primary therapy in my life, I knew I wanted to share that therapy with everyone else to process in their own ways.”
What is your favorite song that you have written and why?
R: “My favorite song I’ve written is unreleased at the moment. BUT, my favorite released song is “Outsider.” That was the first time I ever allowed myself to truly express my emotions without holding back. It was so vulnerable but so real, and I knew other people would need to hear it as well. The process of writing the song provided me with so much closure. I never knew how to express the feelings I was experiencing until I wrote Outsider.”
What artist would you choose to collaborate with on your next single?
R: “This is such a hard question for me to answer. There are so many to name, but I would say anyone who is genuine in their music. I would love to collaborate with Sam Smith, Justin Bieber, Alexander 23, Sam Tompkins, Lizzy Mcalpine, and Billie Eilish to name a few but…soooo many more!”
Do you have any tips for other aspiring young musicians?
R: “I have so many tips for other aspiring musicians, but one big one is to write and release music that YOU love. Everyone has their opinions no matter what you do, so just stick to what you love creating. Another one is to not stress over numbers. It’s so easy with social media to compare yourself to everyone else around you. We all take our own path with our own timeline. Be patient and authentic. Be yourself.”
What inspired you to write your new single ‘How Dare You’?
R: “How Dare You” is about someone who left my life and tried coming back when it was convenient for them, leaving me feeling like my patience and loyalty was taken for granted. I wrote this song to say everything I never said to that person. Similarly to Outsider, the songwriting process gave me so much closure, and I hope it helps listeners in similar situations put words to their own emotions.”
What are some of your New Year’s Resolutions for your music career this year?
R: “I want to continue growing my “friendbase” (fanbase is too impersonal) and release my most authentic music this year – without holding back! I also plan on touring and meeting as many people as I can that support me. Many many more live shows to come, including an extended tour in March and April with my friend Andi!”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
R: “You can follow me on instagram @rachel.grae, tiktok @rachelgrae, and all streaming platforms.”
