This LA artist is awesome!
This isn’t the first time you’ve heard about Jack Fargo. With millions of views and a growing discography, the Memphis-born artist has proven that he is a talented singer-songwriter. And now, he just released his highly-anticipated single ‘Wobble Shake’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Jack about how he would describe his music sound, his upcoming projects, and more!
When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
J: “It’s hard for me to pinpoint the exact moment I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music, but I do remember my first aha moment – I heard Jason Mraz’s “The Remedy” on the radio – and it was like tasting candy for the first time, I was instantly hooked. Another defining moment in my life that pushed me in the direction of music was watching 8 mile, and seeing Eminem rap for the first time. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And it’s honestly not too far from what you see today. Jason Mraz + B Rabbit = Jack Fargo?”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Wobble Shake.’
J: “Wobble Shake is one of my favorite songs on this project – and is definitely one you can get jiggy too. What’s crazy about this song is that it was a beautiful mistake in itself. That particular session, Wes period, Jayden Seeley and myself were working on a totally different song, when the drums got looped over each other unintentionally – and created what is now the backbeat of Wobble Shake. Wes immediately hopped in the booth and sang “she wobblin! she shake her rump!” And the rest is history.”
What has been your reaction to going viral with Millions of views?
J: “Making videos, skits, little songs like we’ve been posting is something that I have been doing since I was a kid. So, to answer your question, eleven year old jack would be ecstatic that these videos have millions of views. But to be honest, I feel like we are just scratching the surface with what we are doing. And I’m looking forward to continuing pushing out quality content for my fans. Also want to give a shout out to Grant Whitson who has been my social media guru during my time with Nettwerk.”
How would you personally describe your music sound?
J: “My sound is hard to put a finger on, I grew up falling in love with rap. But when I picked up the guitar around 13 years old, I started to intertwine my rapping with singing, and found a nice middle ground between the two. I like to call it indie hip hop.”
If you could work with any artist, who would it be and why?
J: “One artist in particular I would love to work with is QuinnXCII – I took a lot of inspiration from Quinn’s music, when I moved out to LA, his music was my main jam. On top of the fact that I know we would make a banger of a song – I feel like we’d really get along too. Quinn if you are reading this… can we be friends?”
Do you think the music scene in LA differs from what it was like in Memphis?
J: “The music scene in LA and Memphis are very different. Memphis is a big city, with a small-town feel – and a whole lotta soul. My hometown has so much to offer as far as the arts and opportunities for young artists, but when it came time to decide where I was going to pursue music, I wanted to spread my wings and venture outside of my hometown. My time here in LA, I’ve learned so much and grown not only as an artist but as a person as well. No matter how long I end up staying in LA, Memphis will always be home.”
Can we expect more music from you in the new year?
J: “I’ve been so lucky to be able to work with some of the most talented producers and songwriters here in LA, and have a good amount of music in the backlog that we have been sitting on. You can expect a few more singles through 2023. And the second project sometime in early 2024.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
J: “You can follow me on Instagram @jackfargo. And on TikTok @jackfargomusic.”
