Their new EP is incredible!
Made up of talented artists Frank, Josh, Jenna, and Kieran, Bleach Lab is quickly becoming one of our favorite music groups. And now, they are back with a brand new EP ‘If You Only Feel It Once’.
We had the absolute honor of talking with a few members of the group about coming up with their band name, dream collab, and more!
How did the four of you first meet and decide to embark in music together?
Josh: “Frank and I met through an online ad to start a band. We hit it off straight away but it was
clear our direction was that different to the rest of the band at the time and decided to part ways
thus creating Bleach Lab. I knew a vocalist from a music college many years back which was
Jenna. Jenna not being in bands before shocked us as we thought we had found a real talent.
Drummers were hard for us to track down as we wanted something that didn’t only play drums
but was a multi instrumentalist that could add to our songwriting capabilities, this turned out to
be Kieran. From that point on we thought we had the right components to really push the band
and our direction was clear.”
What is the meaning behind your band name ‘Bleach Lab’?
Frank: “Honestly, it doesn’t mean anything its just a portmanteau of Beach House and
Stereolab, 2 bands we really like and whose names we like! That’s how it came about.”
Tell us more about your amazing new EP ‘You Only Feel It Once’.
Jenna: “The tracks from this EP were written over quite a large period of time. For example,
Obviously was written back in early 2021, whereas Take It Slow was only finalised as a song in
the weeks prior to recording it. The themes still retain around exploring relationships,
discovering truths about who we are as individuals. Learning to be alone and trying to be secure
in it. The overarching theme of the EP we decided was the nostalgic feeling of ‘home’.”
For your next single you can collab with any music artist of your choice. Who would it be?
Frank: “Justin Vernon 100%, seriously talented multi instrumentalist who i think would fit well
with our style.”
What has been your reaction to being able to say that you guys have performed at your own
sold-out shows?
Josh: “We couldn’t believe it. I remember playing in bars in old bands to friends and family and
that was a good show. To now see our shows are sold out and not having to drag every friend
and family member to our shows is comforting. We love our fans and we always stay and chat
after shows and here their stories with our music.”
How do you all personally describe your sound?
Josh: ‘Nostalgic and Introspective. There is a lot of nods to the 90s but with a modern twist.”
Can we expect more music from you all in the future?
Jenna: “Absolutely, we have been busy behind the scenes working on lots of new material but
we are having to stay hush hush about that for now!”
Where can we follow your amazing music journey?
“We are on all streaming and social media platforms. We also have a mailing list that you can
subscribe to on our website BleachLab.com.”
