Making Reno proud!
Too Close For Comfort, made up of musicians Evan, Ryan, Jimmy, and Tyler, is the pop-punk group we needed. They recently released a new LP entitled ‘We Only Live Here on This Planet for So Long’.
We had the absolute honor of talking with bandmate Tyler about his favorite song off of the project, his dream collaboration, and more!
What first inspired you guys to form as a band and release music together?
T: “Ryan and I (Tyler) were in a band previous to Too Close For Comfort and I was always into pop punk so I really wanted to give it a shot. Ryan started writing the instrumentals and I was blown away and it was all history from there!”
Tell us more about your amazing new LP ‘We Only Live on This Planet for So Long’.
T: “We Only Live Here on This Planet for So Long: This whole record is a roller coaster of nostalgic emotions from moving on from your past and making new friends to trying to find motivation to keep up with your dreams no matter how old you get. I personally struggle to come to terms with the fact I am getting older and haven’t been able to reach my music goals yet. A lot of this record is kind of a stab at perseverance and never giving up on what you believe in.”
Do you guys have a favorite song off of the project so far?
T: “You’re Home Now is my favorite song as a whole from the new record but Burn Bright would have to be my favorite song to perform.”
How would you all describe your songwriting process?
T: “Ryan (guitar and vocals) writes the instrumental versions of the song then I come to him with the melody and lyrics. We as a band then edit and make changes to suit everyone’s style. That is how our song writing process works in Too Close For Comfort.”
How would you personally describe the music scene that Nevada has?
T: “We have a pretty thriving indie and hardcore scene here but there is not many poppunk bands but being so close to california, that is where we are really trying to break in to.”
If you guys could collab with any fellow pop-punk artist, who would it be and why?
T: “Personally I would love to collaborate with Dan Cambell (soupy) from The Wonder Years as he is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to songwriting and relating to the lyrics.”
What has been your reaction to all of the positive response to your music?
T: “All in all, it has been a really good release so far. Everyone that I have personally talked to about this record loved the direction that we are going musically and can’t wait to hear more after this!”
