A star in the making!
At just 19 years old, Remy Reilly has already received over 200K+ streams on just Spotify alone. Now, she’s back with a brand new single called ‘Avalanche’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Remy on her favorite release so far, her growth as an artist, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
R: “I first realized that I wanted to pursue my career in music when I was 11 years old. I had just got
done playing my new cajon that I received for my birthday. I was making silly songs as kids do
and then something sparked. I started performing locally in Texas doing open mics and small
shows and it snowballed from there. Now I have five to six gigs a week and I am loving it.”
You just released your amazing new single ‘Avalanche’! What was the writing process like?
R: “The process was so much fun and a total surprise! “Avalanche” is one of those songs that I had
no idea how I wanted it produced. I could not imagine what the song would sound like in my
head, which I usually have a pretty good idea of when I write a song. I went into the studio with
no expectations but left very pleased with the result. There were so many parts and jams that I
would have never seen there, but they are! “Avalanche” was taken apart and sewn right back
together in front of my eyes with help of the amazing Matt Pence who has produced Elle King
and Sarah Jaffee, to name a few.”
How do you think you’ve grown as a music artist and as a person since your debut in
2018?
R: “I have definitely grown in many diverse ways. In 2018, I was 14 years old and now in 2022 I am 19. You do a lot of growing and maturing in between those ages so it was inevitable that I would. As an artist, I have grown to not be afraid of failing and just going for whatever I want, if I embarrass myself, who cares? I was working towards something I love. As for an individual person, there is a long list of lessons I have learned. I strive to be a better human every day and that is my goal when I wake up. I combine the two by using those lessons and experiences to write songs. Serves as a great inspiration being a human who makes mistakes.”
What was your reaction to becoming an award-winning music artist in that same year?
R: “My reaction was surprise and disbelief. Because I was 14 and new to everything, I did not
expect to receive any kind of award. I remember my jaw dropped when I heard my name and I
just looked around at everyone to see if they heard it right too. I was so grateful to be a part of
such a kind and supportive community who would open their arms to a young female artist.”
How would you personally describe the Texas music scene?
R: “Personally, I would describe the Texas music scene in one word: supportive. I have always felt
that way. Everyone goes to each other’s shows and screams for one another. There are so
many incredible musicians in Texas, lots of variety in genres. Still with the huge size of the
state, it never has felt like a competition with musicians. It feels like a bunch of family. I have always referred to my musician friends as family who partially raised me too being a young one
who grew up in the scene. We all collaborate together, write, do shows, you name it. I couldn’t
imagine discovering myself as a musician anywhere else.”
If you had to choose, what is your favorite released song so far and why?
R: “I think my favorite released song currently is “Just Stop.” This song holds such a deep meaning
to me and my life and a close friend who I wrote it for. I love the production on the song, the
harp sounds and the bass are very soothing to me. If I am totally honest, I do stream this one
myself and I don’t do that for any of the other songs. A close second would be “Lost Without
You,” I think it is so fun to dance around in your room as well as avalanche is!”
Can we expect more music from you in the future?
R: “Absolutely. I will be making music my whole life, I only hope to grow as an artist and human and
travel with my music as well! In fact, I have new songs in the works right now!”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
R: “You can follow my music journey or just be my friend on all platforms as Remy Reilly.”
