From theatre to acting, she can do it all!
You may recognize Sarah-Anne from her amazing new role in the HBO Max original reboot: “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.”
We had the amazing honor of talking with Sarah-Anne about her current favorite TV show, dream co-star, and more!
How did you find out you got casted as ‘Teen Marjorie’ in ‘Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin’?
S: “I remember emailing my agent that morning asking if a different production was casting a
certain role I thought I could play. Later that day he called me and said “That show has already
cast the role you’re asking about, but you can’t be in it anyway because you’re gonna be in
Pretty Little Liars!!” I lost my mind and immediately facetimed my family to tell them.”
What’s a favorite memory of yours from set?
S: “This was my first recurring role on a tv show, so just getting to come back and get to know the
crew better was so special to me! I must say hands down, my favorite memories from filming the
show are the pizza parties the other teen moms and I would have when we were done filming
our scenes for each episode. We would go to the target across the street and grab drinks and
other snacks, and order pizza to one of our hotel rooms and just stay up talking and playing
games!”
Do you feel you relate to ‘Teen Marjorie’ in any way?
S: “In high school I was kind of desperate to be seen as “grown up” because at 16 I looked closer to
a preteen. Looking younger now works in my favor, but when I was younger I really rebelled
against most people’s first impression of myself, so I did a lot of things that were….not good for
me. Much like Marjorie in her adolescence and adulthood.”
Any career plans aside from acting?
S: “At some point in my career I hope to create a production company that focuses on producing
work that examines the intricacies of Latine family dynamics. I know I have been inspired by my
own family, and I am certain that there are so many brilliant Latine writers who want to tell their
stories.”
What movie/tv show would you love to star in?
S: “yellowjackets” Can’t say enough good things about that show!”
Who would be a dream co-star of yours?
S: “Zendaya. I just love everything she does.”
If you could describe how you are feeling about returning in season two in three words, what
would they be?
S: “Where is A!!?”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
A: “My instagram is @sarahmartinezz.”
