Maddox Lim On The Quarantine, His Songwriting Process, And New Single ‘Hollow Dreams’

We had the amazing honor of talking with Maddox about his music education, career goal, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

M: “During Covid quarantine and being stuck at home, I started to really prioritize and realize that
music was my true passion.”

Tell us about your new single ‘Hollow Dreams’. What is its meaning?

M: “Hollow Dreams is about the relationships that we have that don’t always turn out the way we
hoped or planned. Sometimes our loved ones end up causing us the greatest disappointment
and sadness in life.”

What is your songwriting process usually like?

M: “It usually starts with a feeling or thought in my head, and then I start hearing a melody and start
writing out a chord progression. It’s really fun.”

Do you think your music education at the Los Angeles College of Music help towards your
music career?

M: “It was inspiring to see and meet other artists who are so passionate about music. That was a
great learning experience for me to see and learn from them.”

Who do you personally credit as your biggest music inspirations?

M: “I love the music from the 80s and 90s. My dad won’t stop playing that stuff and now I’m hooked
too. All my past and current instructors, I am really grateful and thankful for. They are all so
talented and have shared so much.”

What is a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners do not know?

M: “I am a Dungeons & Dragons geek. I always play the Bard. Vicious Mockery is my favorite spell.
Haha…”

You have accomplished so many incredible achievements as an artist. What goals are you
looking to reach in the future?

M: “I hope to be able to do this as a career and travel and play internationally one day.”

M: “I’m on Instagram and TikTok mostly and sometimes post on Youtube. I appreciate all the
support that we’ve been getting.”
