A new song to obsess over!
LA artist Bri Oglu is a singer-songwriter you don’t want to miss out on watching grow, as evident by her platforms rising with fans every day. And now, following her singles ‘Dream On’ and ‘Slowly’, she’s back with a brand new single entitled ‘Enough’
We had the amazing honor of talking with Bri about her biggest inspiration, her favorite song she has written so far, and more!
What brought you into the music industry?
B: “I was lucky in that I always knew that I wanted to sing and perform. After school, I moved to LA
to pursue acting initially, but ended up booking way more as a singer. When the pandemic hit
and venues shut down, I focused on writing and transitioned into artistry.”
How would you say the industry affects you mentally?
B: “I think, in general, the entertainment industry requires an extremely level head to do well. I’ve
definitely struggled with the workload involved in being an up-and-coming artist, the pressure I
feel to be physically beautiful, impatience, and finding consistent inspiration to write. I’ve
thankfully found a balance and don’t struggle with a lot the same issues I did in my teens. :)”
Who is your biggest inspiration?
B: “I have SO many! But the first person who comes to mind is my “Nene” (grandmother). She was
a singer and music educator. She was unapologetically goofy, fiercely loyal, and endlessly
supportive. She recently passed, but I feel so incredibly lucky to have even been in her orbit in
this lifetime.”
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
B: “Again, SO many come to mind, but Miley Cyrus would be a dream.”
What was the process of writing your new single, “Enough”?
B: “I had the idea for the verses and chords a couple of years ago and composed it on voice and
keys. From there, I came up with the pre-chorus and melody of the chorus. I sent a video to my
producer of what I had in mind and he instantly got what I wanted and KILLED it.”
What inspired you to write the song “Enough”?
B: “I wrote this song through both my eyes and the eyes of my closest friend who had been in a
relationship with an addict. Initially, the chorus was about seeking clarity, but when I began
collaborating with the producer, Will Snyder, we ended up rewriting it to be about moving on and
growth. The change felt right and like growth in and of itself.”
Do you have a favorite song you’ve written? If so, what is it?
B: “It may be this one! Just because it came from a super honest space, and I love the simplicity of
it. Sometimes more is said with less.”
If you could write about anything without repercussions, what would you write about?
B: “Bridging the bipartisanship.”
What is your favorite thing about the music industry?
B: “I get to create something from nothing with total autonomy and creative control. I then get to see
how that directly affects the world around me. It’s wild and rewarding. I have a job that will
always be alluring, fun and evolving. I am lucky.”
