What an incredible performer!
From Netflix’s ‘Hollywood’ to HBO Max’s ‘Winning Time’, Jon Young is quickly making his name known in the acting industry. He has even done work behind the scenes; he can truly do it all!
We had the amazing honor of talking with Jon on his biggest role model, favorite acting role so far, and more!
What inspired you to begin acting?
J: “I always enjoyed performing growing up, and as soon as I was able, I made the move to take on the challenge.”
How did you break into the entertainment industry?
J: “Patience and taking advantage of opportunities. I was able to secure the role of Brad Holland in Winning Time on HBO, and now the future looks even brighter.”
What techniques do you use to portray a believable character, if any?
J: “If not, what type of frame of mind do you use when acting? From my experience, I’ve taken multiple different angles, and so I don’t believe there is one clear cut way to find your character. Art is a process, but not one that is absolute.”
In your career, what’s your favorite movie or show that you’ve been in, and a particularly memorable moment from that show?
J: “Certainly, I would have to name “Winning Time” on HBO. I received tons of onset experience and met a lot of interesting people. “Hollywood” on Netflix was also an enjoyable experience.”
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your journey as an actor?
J: “The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that there is always more you can learn and more you can do. You just have to figure out what that is and do it!”
What advice do you have for people to maintain their mental health?
J: “Speak to someone on a regular basis. I prefer a therapist who can help me navigate my thoughts, but close family or friends can get the job done as well!”
What do enjoy most about being a producer, and what projects are you currently working on?
J: “My co-creator AJ and I just finished our latest short “Who Ate Rick’s Postmates” and are developing a web series titled “Good News Bad” as well as a feature titled “The Pregame.” I love producing film, but I’ve also developed a passion for travel videography as well.”
Who is your role model, and who are you most grateful to?
J: “I can address both these questions with one answer. My brother has been a role model and someone I’m super grateful for. We’ve been through a lot together, and he has been unbelievably helpful through it all.”
What advice would you give to aspiring actors?
J: “If you believe in yourself, put in the time and effort, and take advantage of your opportunities, you can do it! Keep going!”
