We are obsessed with this podcast!
This amazing actress just added the title of ‘co-podcast’ host to her list of accolades! Yasmine, known for her powerful acting roles and relatable social media, just embarked on a collab podcast titled ‘Dare We Say’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Yasmine on her favorite episode of the podcast so far, her friendship with her costars, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?
Y: “Since I was a kid, I loved to perform. Whether it was doing impersonations of family members at family gatherings, to writing plays, all I wanted to do was create. Then as I grew, I realized…wait..I’m actually kinda good at this and I’m making people smile when I perform…i should do this for the rest of my life?I’m grateful that my parents were always so supportive of me in my love for this craft and all the turbulent times that come with it.”
You have starred in several acting projects. What is your idea of the perfect acting role?
Y: “I don’t think there is such a thing as the “perfect acting role”. I feel like every role that I engage with has their own special qualities to them. I hear a lot of “I want to transform myself into this character” and I just don’t think that’s honest? Maybe I sound pretentious as hell, but i don’t think you “transform” into a character, I think you bring yourself to any given character and that’s what makes it different from someone else playing that part.”
Tell us more about your amazing new collaborative podcast ‘Dare We Say’.
Y: “UGH where do I even begin? I get to create a podcast with my two sisters…what a dream. We’re just a group of three badass (and beautiful) women from all walks of life that has something to say! As the next generation of doers and disrupters, it’s our job to make a (positive) change in this world and we want to be a part of it. We talk about everything from the separation of church and state to hookup playlists. All the topics are actual things we want and need to talk about.”
We are already obsessed! If you had to choose, which has been your favorite released episode so far and why?
Y: “Ooooof ugh that’s a good question. Def the Church and State episode…or maybe one that hasn’t been released yet…so stay tuned :)”
We love your on-screen chemistry with your co-stars! Do you guys have a strong friendship away from the mics?
Y: “100%. They are literally family. It’s a forever type thing. We literally lived together during COVID lockdown….you can’t get closer than that.”
This podcast celebrates powerful women who are POC. How does it feel to be strong representation of the Arab culture for women in media?
Y: “Thank you for this question. It feels surreal being able to represent my culture. We don’t have nearly the representation that there should be in this industry. Growing up, I never had a strong Arab woman in media to look up to…I want to be that woman for young Arabs everywhere. As Arab people, we have a voice and story to tell and people need to listen.”
Is there anything you want to say to your fans who are loving your work?
Y: “Ummm thank you so much for loving Dare We Say! You’re an icon and legend. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. Stay tuned for more episodes and if you have an idea for one/want us to talk about something, DM us @darewesay. Your input is everything <3”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
Y: “Shameless plug always. You can follow me on instagram @childishyasmino (haven’t changed it since 7th grade) and follow @darewesay on insta! Sending you love xx.”
