Vanessa Carrasco Talks About Her Biggest Acting Inspirations And New Role In ‘Life By Ella’

From Law and Order to New Amsterdam, we have seen Vanessa Carrasco do it all. Currently, you can see the rising actress star as the loveable character ‘Ximena’ in the Apple TV+ original series ‘Life By Ella’.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Vanessa about getting to know her co-stars, favorite episode of the series so far, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

V: “I realized I wanted to pursue an acting career when I was around 8. I was a model, and did some commercial acting too, so I started taking acting lessons, and eventually decided that going on auditions for TV and film was something I wanted to do.”

Tell us more about your amazing role in the Apple TV original series ‘Life By Ella’.

V: “My character Ximena has so many layers to unpack on the show. When we first meet her, we immediately assume that she’s a bad friend for not being with Ella during her treatment. As the episodes go on, we see the real reason as to why Ximena made the choices that she did, and we start to empathize with her fears.”

Do you think that you have anything in common with your character?

V: “Even though I wouldn’t make the same choices as Ximena did on the show, her and I have a similar mindset and way of interacting with people.”

In the series, your character is close on-screen friends with Ella and Kai. What was your behind-the-scenes experience working with Lilly Brooks O’Briant and Artyon Celestine?

V: “Artyon and Lily are literally the best people I’ve met. They always made me laugh really hard and matched my energy which made filming really fun!”

If you had to choose, do you have a personal favorite episode of the season?

V: “My favorite episode is probably episode 9, I’m not in it, but it makes me cry SO HARD, and I don’t cry over TV or movies. My other favorite would probably be episode 6 with Hayley Kiyoko, she was a stunner on set.”

Is there a type of role you would love to play in the future?

V: “I’d love to play a role in a show that’s really tough and targets your brain so you think about it years later and be like “what the hell did I watch in 2022”!”

Who would you credit as some of your biggest acting inspirations?

V: “Timothee Chalamet, Margot Robbie, Tom Cruise, and Kirsten Dunst are the actors that I look up to the most, I love all of their projects.”
