This singer-songwriter is incredible!
Everyone get your favorite playlists ready! Pop singer KG Crown just released two brand new singles ‘Porcelain Queen’ and ‘Picture Perfect Love’. And spoiler alert: they are both bops.
We had the amazing honor of talking with KG about her rising fanbase, her calling to music, and more!
When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
K: “I’ve felt a calling to be a singer ever since I was 7 years old. It sounds completely crazy, but I heard a voice that told me to “sing to the world.” Ever since then, I knew this was what I was meant to do with my life. So, I started pursuing music and never looked back. I love what I do.”
Tell us more about your recent releases, ‘Picture Perfect Love’ and ‘Porcelain Queen’
K: “Both songs just released, so please make sure you stream them! Picture Perfect Love is a song I wrote about one of my past relationships. It is the ultimate love break up song. It’s really about loving someone deeply, thinking you have this picture perfect relationship, and then it doesn’t work out. It’s about how hard it is to watch someone you love move on in life with other people. I think that anyone who has experienced a break up can relate to this song.
Porcelain Queen is a K-pop inspired song meant to draw awareness about mental health. I was the victim of bullying when I was younger. I was bullied not just by my peers, but also by adults in my hometown. There was a particular traumatic event that happened that completely destroyed me and my mental health. It left me with PTSD, depression, and just the inability to feel. I was emotionally numb and still three years later, this is something that I struggle with. It’s difficult for me to connect to my feelings and show my emotions because of this event. I wrote this song as a release of those emotions. Soon I am going to be traveling around the United States as a motivational speaker addressing the topic of bullying and sharing my story. I have always been a person to want to take something negative and turn it into something positive. If my story can inspire someone or make a difference, then it’s a win for me. I have been blessed to be given this huge platform and I want to do something good with it. So, I am a huge anti-bulling advocate.”
Which of these two releases, if you had to choose, is your favorite and why?
K: “It’s very hard to choose which song is my favorite because they are very different songs. Picture Perfect Love is a song that has a lot of sentimental meaning to me. It is actually very difficult for me to listen to it, because it is about one of my ex boyfriends.
Porcelain Queen is just a powerful sassy song. It’s a song that is really fun to perform and makes me feel empowered. I don’t think I can choose between the two songs. I am an artist who treats songwriting like a diary. All of my songs are inspired by real events, so they all have a personal meaning to me.”
If you could collab with any pop artist, who would it be and why?
K: “This is also a difficult question because I love so many artists. I think probably my top 3 favorite artists are Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and Lalisa from Black Pink.
I love Ariana because I think she has probably hands down the best voice in the industry. She is an amazing vocalist. I love Billie Eilish because her voice really fits my voice and I am a huge fan of her personal branding. I think she branded herself really well. My current idol is Lalisa from Black Pink. I love everything about her, from her voice, to her fashion sense, to her dancing, and her swag. So I’d love to collaborate with any of these three artists.”
How do you think you have grown from an artist from your debut singles?
K: “After I released my first three singles a year ago, I really just took my time developing my branding and my sound. I think that it is important as an artist to know exactly who you are and what kind of music you make. It is also really important to have an identifiable sound. So I took my time, experimented, started producing some music of my own, and just really made sure I knew who KG Crown was. In this industry, you will come across many producers or executives that want to change you. I think it’s always important to know yourself and know the kind of music that you want to make.”
You have received over 2 million followers so far! What has been your reaction to all of your incredible fans supporting you?
K: “I love my fans! I seriously have the best fans ever. They are so supportive and make me all of these amazing edits. I am truly blessed. I would be nothing without my fans. They have become like family to me.”
Would you ever consider creating a name for your fan base?
K: “It is funny you asked this question because I just posted a poll on my social media asking my fans to help me choose a name for our fandom. So I am taking all of their suggestions right now. We are going to vote and name the fan base. So stay tuned! Follow me on social media to see what name we come up with.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
K: “I am very active on social media, so please go follow my instagram and Tik Tok accounts. I also have a youtube channel and create vlogs about my life and that’s where I release a lot of my music!”
