Let’s go Seabrook!
Dancer and actress Jasmine Renee Thomas is becoming one of our favorite performers. From Starz‘s ‘American Gods’ to FX‘s ‘What We Do in The Shadows’, her roles definitely steal the show. You may also recognize her as cheerleader ‘Stacey’ in all three ‘Zombies’ Disney movies.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Jasmine about the importance of on-screen diversity, her favorite Disney movies, and more!
You come from an incredible dancing background! When did you first decide to pivot and
incorporate acting?
J: “The first Zombies movie opened up my heart and eyes to how amazing acting is! I didn’t know I wanted to act until I started acting! I thought I could only be a dancer and not be able to do both. I initially auditioned for Zombies 1 as a dancer and then Disney asked me to audition for the role of Stacey. I never thought from that one audition my world would change so much!”
You play ‘Stacey’ in all three movies of the ‘Zombies’ franchise. Do you have a favorite film
out of the movies and why?
J: “I absolutely loved playing Stacey, it was such a fun character to be able to return to each movie. But definitely my favorite film to play her was Zombies 1! It was something new to me and I felt very safe to experiment and have fun with her. We had no idea 2 more movies were coming after Zombies 1 so I really took in the first Zombies experience and cherished it.”
Is there a co-star you were closest to during your experiences?
J: “As a cast we all are super close and would spend a lot of off set time together! Emilia and I became best friends from working on Zombies and realized we’re so much alike, we’re basically sisters at this point haha.”
If ‘Zombies 4’ becomes a thing, would you be down to be a part of it?
J: “Absolutely! If there was a ‘Zombies 100’ I would still be down for every single one!”
Now that you are officially a part of the Disney family, do you have an all-time favorite Disney
film/tv show?
J: “Definitely! Cheetah Girls or Camp Rock are for sure some of my favs!”
How important do you think diversity is in both the dance and film industry?
J: “Diversity and representation are so important across the entire industry not just in dance and film but also in the production and writing teams that put all these amazing projects together. It’s important to have people from all races and walks of life behind the camera as well as in-front of the camera.”
When not working, what are some of your favorite things to do?
J: “I love cooking and baking for my family and friends. Dinners, deserts you name it. I love being in the kitchen and smelling the aromas mixing everything together to finally plate it and see the faces of my family after they take their first bites.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
J: “Social media is always the best place to find me! Instagram, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Cameo. @JasmineRT.”
