This singer-songwriter is amazing!
She first got fame after her successful run on Season 19 ‘American Idol’. And now, over a year later, Casey Bishop is gearing up to release her debut self-titled EP, on September 28th.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Casey about her biggest music inspirations, tour goal, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
C: “I’ve always loved singing but when I realized I wanted to make my own music I was in middle school. I had listened to Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” album for the first time when I was in 8th grade and instantly felt inspired to write my own songs.”
You first got a lot of attention after we watched you grow to ‘Top Four’ on Season 19 of ‘American Idol’. How did that experience affect both your music career and you as a person?
C: “American Idol gave me a huge boost for my music career. Before the show I was just dreaming of being an artist, but I didn’t have much experience at all. I hadn’t played out much or been on many stages in my life, as a singer, so I was pretty green. The show really brought everything together for me. It allowed me to have the incredible experience of singing on a massive stage with a lot of production, stage direction, a live band, and a live audience. I had to learn how to properly sing a duet and perform in group numbers. It made me so much more confident in myself and my abilities. And then, after the show, I got a record deal, so Idol was definitely the catalyst to starting my career.”
If there was ever an all-stars season of ‘American Idol’, would you consider being a part of it?
C: “Most likely! It would also be pretty fun because the stress would be gone. Not only would I have already done it before, but I wouldn’t be in a competitive setting and I would love to reunite with everyone on the show.”
Tell us more about your amazing debut EP, ‘Casey Bishop’.
C: “It’s my first collection of music and I am so excited for it to finally be heard. All of the songs are very different in their own way, there’s a range of emotions in the music. Everyone who is a part of this project is so insanely talented and made it into what it is. During the process of the EP, I was growing so much and all of the songs were written at such different time periods in my life it’s almost like a diary!”
This might be difficult but between all six tracks, which is your favorite off of the project and why?
C: “My favorite is “Denied” because I think it’s the most vulnerable record on the EP.”
Who would you credit as your biggest music inspirations?
C: “I would say Fiona Apple, Alanis Morissette, Gwen Stefani (particularly during the No Doubt era), Billie Eilish and Meg Myers.”
With several incredible hits, a new EP, and over 1 Million streams on your music, would you consider touring in the near future?
C: “I would love to tour in the future!”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
C: “You can follow my instagram and my tiktok, both at Caseybishop_ and definitely go to Youtube to check out the videos for the EP. I am obsessed with them.”
