This singer-songwriter belongs in the studio!
Known in the songwriting industry as Heather Jeanette Miley, singer MIZZI is blowing us away. Now, she’s back with her new single ‘BOMB’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with MIZZI on her upcoming music, advice to young songwriters, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in the music industry?
M: “I first realized I wanted to pursue a career in music when I started writing my own songs in high school. I then attended a Summer Program at Berklee College Of Music and never looked back since.”
Tell us about your amazing new single ‘BOMB’. What is its meaning?
M: “BOMB” is about having confidence in being who you are and being fun, explosive and unapologetic about it.”
You are an incredible songwriter. Is it a different process for you to songwrite for yourself, as opposed to writing for other artists?
M: “It’s a bit different when I write for other artists versus writing myself. When I’m working with another artist, I’m basically there as almost a therapist in getting them to share their thoughts, feelings and emotions with me. I will offer ideas and guide them, but I sit in the passenger seat. For my own songs, I know exactly what I want to say and know what I want to sound like.“
If you had to choose, do you have a favorite song you have ever written?
M: “Ahhh that’s way too hard. I love all my songs for different reasons and they remind me of different times/experiences in my life.”
What has been your reaction to having your amazing music featured in our favorite shows?
M: “It never gets old. Everytime I hear a song on a show or trailer, it’s such an exciting and rewarding feeling. I also love it when fans and friends reach out because they heard a song while watching their favorite shows.”
What advice would you give to young girls who want to pursue a career in music?
M: “I would say learn as much as you can about the industry and your craft. Try to be as self-sufficient as possible (ie if you’re a songwriter, try to learn how to record to get your songs out there). Also network and find your team that you can trust and rely on.”
Can we expect more music from you in the future?
M: “Yes! I am always writing and plan to release a few more songs before the end of the year.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
M: “You can follow me on instagram: @mizzimusic or website: www.mizzimusic.com.”
