Made up of Kyle Neblett, Andrew Smith, and Wes Hunter, Goldpark is back and truly better than ever. With over 1 Million streams on their music, the group is back today with a new single ‘I Guess It’s Never Enough’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with drummer Kyle Neblett about the band getting together, Wonder Road Fest, and more!
What was the initial inspiration for the three of you becoming a group together?
K: “I think we all shared the allure of being in a band. We didn’t meet until 2019, but I think the idea of being in a band, touring in a van, and playing songs was something we all knew we wanted to do from a young age.”
You guys are back with a new single ‘I Guess It’s Never Enough’. What was the process behind the next Goldpark hit? (And yes, we are calling it)
K: “I remember the day Wes (lead singer) sent us the demo. I think I listened to it like 4 times in a row because I was so excited about it. We built the demo out a bit and got stoked to add it to the EP. Once we got into the studio with it, we actually had a tough time finding what we really wanted the song to be. I think we went through 3 or 4 different arrangements before we stripped it all back and landed on what everyone will hear on August 8th(today)!”
Just a few weeks ago you guys performed your first show on the Goldpark Summer Tour. What has the tour been like so far?
K: “We love being on tour. Every time we leave Nashville in the van someone makes at least one comment about how great it is to be on the road. It’s not always perfect and we’ve definitely played to like 4 people at some shows (sometimes it’s just the other band that’s watching us play). We definitely consider ourselves very lucky to be doing the little bit of touring we have done so far.”
It is rumored that the second Goldpark EP is going to be released this Fall. What can Goldpark fans expect on this EP and upcoming music?
K: “We’re really proud of the work we did on ‘Goldpark One.’ I think ‘Goldpark Two’ is really a reflection of us being on the road for a year, listening to a lot of records that inspire us, writing from a place of authenticity, and knowing who we are a bit more. We’re stoked for people to hear what we’ve been working on and I think this EP sets the stage for the kind of band we want to be moving forward.”
Your first festival appearance was Wonder Road Fest. What was this experience like?
K: “We LOVED being at Wonder Road! To be part of a lineup with Chvrches, Lord Huron, and Vampire Weekend was incredible. Everyone from the festival staff to the festival attendees were so nice and supportive of our set.”
Your band has received well deserved attention. When curating your band, did you expect to receive such great fame in as few as less than 3 years?
K: “That’s really kind! We owe SO much of our success so far to our manager, Brad Parker, our label, Laura Bender and the team at Hazel Street Records, and our booking agent, Justin Edwards at WME. Our team is incredible for the work they do to get our music in front of people and we feel so fortunate to be at the table with them.”
One of your greatest hits is ‘Covered in Sunshine’. What was the inspiration behind such an inspirational song like this one?
K: “We wrote “Covered in Sunshine” with the legend, Trent Dabbs. It started as a track and I think a chorus idea he had started way before we had the writing session on the calendar. As soon as he played it for us, Wes and I looked at each other and said “this is the song we’re writing today, FOR SURE!” We had a blast writing that one. While that one has a lot of imagery, it can also actually be taken very literally — get off your phone, out from behind a screen, and get covered in some sunshine and enjoy life.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
K: “We’re @goldparkband on IG and TikTok. You can also check out our website where you can sign up for our newsletter at goldparkband.com.”
