This actor is truly incredible!
If you haven’t seen Bill Kelly in a project, you might be living under a rock. The actor has been seen in all of our favorite shows, from ABC’s ‘Wonder Years’ and Netflix’s ‘Bloodline’. Now, he stars as ‘Sherif Jackson’ in the movie-adaptation of ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Bill on dream character-type, favorite hobbies, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
B: “I became interested in acting as a senior in high school when auditions for the senior play rolled around. I had been pretty shy about putting myself out there but was determined that I was going to try-out just to see what happened. I ended up getting the lead role and had a blast doing it! Then it was crickets for about 24 years. I had moved to Tallahassee, Florida and got word that the film school at FSU would be holding open auditions. I tried out, did about 30 student films and decided to try getting an agent. And here we are!”
Can you tell us more about your role in the movie adaptation of “When Crawdads Sing”?
B: “I play Sheriff Ed Jackson who is the local law enforcement in Barkly Cove. He has lived there for many years and knows the town quite well. His years of experience behind him and a great intuition give him the ability to look beyond the clues in his hunt for the truth.”
Do you think that you have anything in common with your character ‘Sheriff Jackson’?
B: “I do! His tenacity and mind are pretty equal. I don’t give up easily when I want to accomplish something.”
‘When Crawdads Sing’ is in theatres! What is your current favorite movie?
B: “Crawdads is my favorite, but if I can’t vote for that one, I’d say Top Gun: Maverick…although I really want to see “Nope.”
Is there a character-type you still haven’t played that you would love to?
B: “I would love to be in a Marvel or DC movie playing the good guy! Also, would love to do a comedy.”
If you could star alongside any actor, who would it be and why?
B: “So many! Probably Johnny Depp or Sean Penn. They both amaze me with their skills. Both transform into someone else seamlessly.”
When not acting, what are some of your favorite things to do?
B: “Work in our yard, hit baseball, race Go-Karts. I haven’t raced in a while so that would be fun to get back in to.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
B: “I’m on social media, of course at @billkellyactor. Also, IMDb where you can track projects I’m in.”
