She is a breakout star!
At such a young age, actress Bentley Williams is becoming a fan-favorite to have on our screens. You recently may recognize her as starring as ‘Fifteen’ in season 4 of Netflix’s “Stranger Things”.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Bentley about her acting goals, first-ever film, and more!
You have starred in a recurring role as “Fifteen” in Stranger things. What was your experience like portraying that role in Stranger Things?
B: “Portraying 15 was the best thing that’s happened to me in my life. It’s hard to describe in words the excitement I felt when I booked the role. I worked on set for 2 months filming. I’ve never worked in a project that long before. Everyday was exciting. I got to act with celebrities like Matthew Modine, Jamie Bower Campbell and Millie Bobby Brown. The Duffer Brothers were brilliant and knew exactly what they wanted for every scene. They also had the best crafty ever. Every kid loves crafty. The Duffer Brother’s made sure that crafty was like going to candy/grocery store on a shopping spree. I thought my mommy had to pay for it. So I didn’t go crazy.”
What inspired you to become an Actress?
B: “I started out as a baby model in Dallas, Tx with The Clutts Agency. Then my family relocated to Atlanta, Ga when I was almost 4. My mom decided to get me a local agent after being here for a few years. I signed with J Pervis at 7 years old. I started doing commercials, then tv/film projects.”
You have also played a role in Alabama Sake. Can you tell us more about that role?
B: “Yes I played the role of Young Doris in a flashback. We filmed it in a really cool location in Alabama. The movie is a documentary based off old folklore of handling snakes during the religious “Pentecostal” services. Thankfully I never had to be around the snakes in real life. I don’t like snakes at all.”
What is your favorite part about being an Actress in the Entertainment industry?
B: “What I love most about being an actor is bringing characters to life. Story telling is magical to me. I usually get to be someone I’m not in real life.”
Do you have anyone you look up to as a Actress?
B: “I really love Millie Bobby Brown. Before I ever worked on Stranger Things I found out her back story. Did you know she almost quit acting? Her story stuck with me. Acting is a hard business we hear lots of no’s. So I can relate to her. Then when I got to work with her on set for so long it was fascinating to me. Millie was so sweet, funny, just a genuine person. She is definitely my idol.”
When you are auditioning for a role how do you get into the mindset of the character?
B: “To get into character I always read the breakdown and then I try to watch the show to get an idea of where my character would fit in.”
You got to play a role in Heroes among us. What was that experience like for you to be part of that?
B: “Heroes Among US was special because it was my first film at 7 years old. The callback was the most memorable ever. The director Mr. Andrew booked me on the spot. It felt so good to leave knowing I got the role that day. It’s based off of a true story too. I had an amazing set family, I was (Peyton)the daughter of a real life soldier in the movie.”
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years as an Actress?
B: “I see myself doing bigger roles and maybe being nominated for acting awards in the future. I hope to become more well know in the industry.”
