Need a recommendation for a show to watch while on the Las Vegas strip? All you need is this!
From adults to young kids, the imaginative Cirque Du Solei Show “The Beatles LOVE” is the perfect performance to bring the family together in the name of incredible music.
Recently, a few reporters from New Scene and I had the pleasure of attending a recent performance, and we have so many things to express. To summarize, here are 5 of our favorite aspects of “Beatles LOVE”.
Warning: There are spoilers of certain scenes that take place during the show.
1- Disco Fever
The show takes you through the Beatles’ transitions throughout their music career and displays the fashion evolution in the process. All characters were decked in beautiful 70s costumes that inspired everyone sitting down to get back home and dust off their old bell-bottoms. Not only were the groovy outfits on stage, but most of the audience had taken it upon itself to dress up in nothing but go-go boots, red-rimmed glasses, and 60s pattern dresses. A time capsule on the strip!
2-The Nowhere Men
While characters like ‘Lady Madonna’ and ‘Sugar Plum Fairly’ constantly captured our attention, it was clear that the ‘Nowhere Men’ completely stole the show. Made up of four hilarious characters, including ‘Doctor Robert’ and ‘The Fool on the Hill’, their sense of humor carried throughout the entire show. Before the show even started, the group spent time getting the audience riled up and excited for the performance. Make sure to look for ‘Doctor Robert’ during the dance scenes-he does a mean robot!
3- ‘Get Back’
‘Get Back’ was the first big number of the performance and we were not prepared for the talented rollercoaster that was about to take place. Led in by a countdown from ‘The Beatles’ via curtain hologram, the curtains dramatically fell to reveal a bundle of performers and acrobats dancing everywhere from the ground to the ceiling. Blue and white confetti dropped through the air- It was such a bold kick-off to the show and I would personally go back just for this scene alone.
4-The Holograms
Besides the ‘Get Back’ performance, the use of holograms played a vital part in the show. Unfortunately, John Lennon and George Harrison have since passed; But it felt as though their presence was still there. It was so special to feel the sense that us as the audience, and the Beatles, whether here or gone, were all a part of the same experience.
5-The Sheet
One of the best acts throughout the show was the ‘Within you, Without You/ Tomorrow Never Knows’. We were entranced with the beautiful music when a large bedsheet expanded from the center stage, covering the entire audience. This show definitely ignores the theme of most shows, which is that where you sit matters; Every seat in this show is the best seat in the house. It was alluring to sit under the sheet with the lights illuminating and simply live in the moment, with yourself and audience members next to you singing on one accord.
After their long pandemic break, we are so glad this performance is back up and running. Use the link below to purchase tickets for “The Beatles LOVE” Remember to bring your flower-print vest!
