Artist CWBY On Performing Live, Songwriting Process, And New Single ‘Insecure’

This talented musician always creates hits!

With over 2 Million streams on just Spotify alone, CWBY has quickly made a name for himself as an artist to look out for. Recently, he released a new and popular single entitled ‘Insecure’.

We had the amazing honor of talking with CWBY about his dream collaborations, music plans, and more!

What inspired you to become a singer? 

C: “Honestly it was my friends who inspired and pushed me to become a singer. Without them I never would have even set foot in a studio for the first time. They have pushed me to keep going and stick with it no matter how rough it gets on the journey.”

What is your favorite part of performing? 

C: “Being able to connect live with fans. Seeing people react to your music and have it leave a mark on them makes it all worth it.”

What is your songwriting process usually like?

C: “The process is a little different for each song, but it usually works like this. First, my producer will send a few beats or I’ll tell him what kind of beat I am looking for. Once the beat is chosen I will listen on repeat and see how it makes me feel and see what memories pop into my head (I’ve lived a pretty wild life and I have many stories to tell so it comes pretty quick). After I have come up with the name of the song I call my co writer Gerald Mitchell and we do a phone interview (He is the brains behind majority of the melodys). I will give him lyrics, ideas and some melodies, etc and then he will put together an initial demo for me. After that demo I see what I like and what needs to go or be changed. Sometimes it’s pretty quick and sometimes we go back and forth 9-10 times to get the song to where we want it. It’s a very fun process. I will also work with other people as well if are stuck on some melodies and need a fresh ear.” 

What has been your reaction to receiving over 2 Million streams? 

C: “It feels pretty surreal to see that. I’m grateful for each one, but my goals are so high for myself as an artist that I also don’t think about it too much. I’m more excited for what’s to come.”

What is the story behind your new single “Insecure”? 

C: “Insecure” is a song I started writing while I was still with my ex. I was expressing how I felt during the end of our relationship and what was driving me away. The verses of the song are about how I feel and also throwing a little shade about specific incidents in the relationship while the hook is questioning why are you feeling like this? What am I doing wrong?”

If you could collab on a song with any artist, who would it be and why? 

C: “I think I would like to do a huge ballad style song with either The Weeknd, Chris Stapleton and or Ariana Grande. They all have unique and powerful voices and I think our vocals would contrast each other very well.”

Can we expect more music from you in the future?

E: “Oh yes, a lot of music! The plan is to drop a single every month for the next 4 months and then hopefully a full album later this year.”
