Ashlie Garrett On Sarah Paulson, Paparrazi, And Expressing Herself Through Makeup

This actress is proving to be one to watch!

Actress, Influencer, and MUA Ashlie Garrett is quickly becoming more and more in the limelight. She has recently made appearances on so many of our favorite shows, including BRAT’s “Hotel Du Loone” and ABC’s “Modern Family”.

We had the amazing honor of talking to Ashlie about going to concerts, favorite role so far, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting? 

A: “Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be an actress. It has always been so intriguing to me to look at a character’s background and create this whole world they live in that’s made them who they are in the story being told about them. Growing up, my love for acting grew deep and it became a safe place for me by giving me situations and characters I could relate to at that time in my life. Since then, it’s been my biggest passion and dream.”

You have starred in a lot of projects. Which has been your favorite so far?

A: “I would love to go back to my time on the set of ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat. It was such a fun experience and taught me so much! The cast and crew were all so sweet and they made it a priority that everyone on set was happy and having fun!”

Is there a type of role you’ve always wanted to play?

A: “I’ve always wanted to play raw, multilayered characters that make an impact on the people that are watching. Some of my dream roles would be Susanna from Girl Interrupted, Mallory from Natural Born Killers, or even Kevin from the movie Split.”

If you could star in a tv show with any actress, who would it be and why?

A: “I would love to star in a tv show with Sarah Paulson. I absolutely adore her and think that the different depths and level of dimensions she brings to her characters are incredible. It would truly be an honor to work with her.”

You are also a certified makeup artist. What inspired you to pursue makeup as well?

A: “Makeup was one of my favorite ways to express myself artistically growing up. I think it’s so beautiful to be able to empower different clients and make them feel like the most confident and beautiful versions of themselves. The history and evolution of the constantly changing techniques and styles always keep me wanting to learn more and help to make me inspired.”

What has been your favorite Hollywood experience so far and why?

A: “One of my favorite experiences in my career so far would have to be my first run in with paparazzi. I baked a bunch of cookies and sweets for a Christmas party I was going to and a couple of them came up to me to ask me a few questions about a project I was working on at the time and my reaction was to offer them some of my baked goods! It’s always been funny to me that that’s the first way I ever responded to them because that’s a very “Ashlie” type of thing to do!”

When not working on your next role, what are some of your favorite things to do?

A: “I completely geek out over music and going to concerts! I also love to surf, go to the gym and adventure around new places. I’m a major caffeine addict as well so going to a coffee shop & reading for a while is one of my favorite ways to unwind.”
