This young actress is becoming a known name!
This isn’t our first time seeing Montse on our screen. We’ve seen her on everything from CW’s “Jane The Virgin” to USA’s “Colony”. She recently starred as ‘Jane’ in the incredible thriller “Student Body”.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Montse on doing her own stunt, keeping family close, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
M: “I started acting when I was very young. I was 3 years old when I started doing modeling, commercials, and even voiceover back in Texas. I had so much fun doing it that it didn’t even occur to me that this is an actual job. When I finally got to the age where I understood that what I was doing was a career to be taken seriously, I made the choice to keep going because I had so much fun doing it. It never felt like work and I’ve never lost that feeling. To this day, I still love it and have fun. I take it very seriously and put in the work, but even then, it doesn’t feel like work. When you’re passionate about something, and love what you do, it never really does.”
What lesson do you hope fans take away from the feature film “Student Body”?
M: “I hope fans will acknowledge the importance of believing victims. In the film, without giving away major spoilers, my character Jane gets assaulted. I want fans to take away that terrible things like this do happen, Jane could be anyone. A friend, a classmate, a family member. And it is important to always believe and support victims of any kind of abuse.”
What Film or TV series/project would you love to be a part of in the future?
M: “I don’t have a specific film or TV series mind, but I would love to do a period piece in the future. Something very “Bridgerton!” I just love the wardrobe and the locations!”
You have done both on-camera and voice-acting roles: Which is more challenging?
M: “They are actually more similar than a lot of people think. You have to really use your imagination, bring your character to life, and put yourself in that universe when doing either. The only major difference between them is that in one, you are in a booth and don’t have to memorize lines. I can’t say they one is more challenging than the other, but they do have their own unique set of challenges.”
What lesson have you’ve learned from being in the entertainment industry?
M: “Keep your true friends and family very close. Having a strong, solid support system is so incredibly important in this industry. I owe a lot of my success to my family. Without them I don’t think I would have made it this far or would be able to continue going. It is a hard business, but with the right people around you, you can make it.”
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
M: “Apart from writing, I like to design dresses! I have a wall in my room with nothing but sketches of dresses I’ve designed and want to make. Maybe I’ll wear one of them to a future carpet event someday.”
What’s something we should know about the feature film “Student Body” that might surprise us?
M: “I did all my own stunts in the movie! There’s one in particular that was crazy, (no spoilers here) and I’m proud to say that, with the help of an incredibly stunt team and the support of everyone on set, I was able to do it!”
You have already been able to work with some impressive names so far in your career. Is there anyone you would love to work with someday?
M: “Kate del Castillo is someone I have always wanted to work with! I’m a huge fan of her. As a proud Mexican-American actress, she’s someone I look up to as an artist. I really admire her work. If we ever work together in the future, I would definitely have to control my fangirling.”
What is one message you would give to your fans?
M: “First and foremost, I would like to thank them for supporting me and for always hyping me up. I love and appreciate all of them so much. It’s crazy to even think I have fans! I feel very blessed that I’ve touched so many people online and through my work. So my message right now is thank you x a billion. It’s been a crazy journey and it’s only going to get crazier so thank you for sticking around and being just as excited as I am to see where I go.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
M: “My Instagram and Twitter is @Iam_Montse.”
