This new thriller is now the film to beat!
‘Alice’ has captured the attention of film lovers since its 2022 Sundance initial premiere, which was met with very positive reviews. And, after we were able to watch it, we now know why a theatrical debut is necessary.
The directorial debut of screenwriter Krystin Ver Linden, ‘Alice’ is a genius rollercoaster ride that has trailblazed a new take on Slavery-illustrated films. The star of this movie is unquestionably Keke Palmer. From the perspective of an actress that is not from the south, her emotions throughout this movie were raw and genuine and will beyond a doubt surprise the audience.

“The struggle to define herself by her own rules, her resilience, love of stories and belief in a world bigger than her own spoke to everything inside of me. Every character represented a truth. A truth about the horrific capabilities of man, the truth about our history as a nation and a people. The truth about fighting for a cause that has the implications to elevate lives and change social dynamics.“– Krystin Ver Linden, Director.
One word that deeply describes this film is powerful. The inclusion of gospel-influenced music wavering throughout this film was an incredible touch to the reference of worshiping from the Black culture in both distinct time periods in this movie.
Overall, as a debut-directed film, ‘Alice’s story is what truly makes this film shine. We are excited to see what this creative has up her sleeve for her next release. ‘Alice’ is available today in Candian Theatres. Watch it today! You’ll be glad you did.
