This young actress is now portraying a well-known Disney icon!
At just 13 years old, Libby Rue has captured our attention as a star on our screens after voicing the lead character ‘Alice’ in the new Disney Junior TV show “Alice’s Wonderland Bakery”.
We had the amazing opportunity of talking with Libby on her favorite actress, hobbies, and more!
Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to begin acting?
L: “When I was six I went to see Matilda on Broadway. I was mesmerized by the music and dancing. Mimi Ryder was playing Matilda for that performance and she was only a few years older than I was. I knew then and there that I needed to be a part of this world.”
Q: Tell us about your amazing new role in Disney+’s “Alice’s Wonderland Bakery”.
L: “Alice is great-granddaughter of the original Alice in Wonderland, is a budding young baker at the enchanted Wonderland Bakery. She is extremely inquisitive, persistent, and resourceful as she experiments with her baking and invents out-of-the-box solutions for problems that arise. In this modern version of the story, Alice uses her baking skills to introduce the whimsical world of Wonderland to a new generation of children and their families.”
Q: What was your first reaction when receiving the role?
L: “I was so excited to hear that I had been chosen to play Alice. I felt a connection to the character and the story as soon as I read the audition sides. It honestly took me awhile before it sank in. Sometimes I still can’t believe it.”
Q: Besides Alice in Wonderland, what is your current favorite Disney movie?
L: “That is a tough one! I love so many Disney movies but today my answer is Frozen. Anna is definitely my favorite Disney Princess (now Queen) and I love many of the messages in the movie – it’s ok to be different and the importance of family. Of course, you can’t forget the music and all those incredible voices – Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad are some of my favorites.”
Q: In this new series, Alice loves baking new treats. Do you enjoy baking as well?
L: “I do enjoy baking. I am still learning and would like to get better at it. My favorite meal to make is breakfast. My favorite bakery treat to whip up is chocolate chip cookies. One day I would love to learn how to bake French macaroons. Yummmm.”
Q: When not acting, what are some of your favorite things to do?
L: “When not acting I spend a lot of time dancing. I also love traveling and if those travels involve horseback riding, even better!”
Q: If you could star in a TV show with any actress, who would it be and why?
L: “I would love to be in a show with Kristen Bell. The Good Place is one of my favorite TV shows and of course she was the voice of Princess Anna as well. She is so talented and her comedic timing is amazing. I would love to learn from her and having the opportunity to sing with her would be a dream come true.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
L: “I am most active on Instagram @libby.rue. I recently started a Twitter account. You can find me there @its_libbyrue. I also have a website – www.libbyrue.com.”
