This actress is about to make her Netflix debut!
You may recognize Johanna from some of the best Lifetime movies, including “College Professor Obsession” and “The Wrong Cheerleader Coach”. Now, she’s here in the highly anticipated Netflix sequel as ‘Stella’ in “Tall Girl 2”.
We had the absolute honor to talk with Johanna on her favorite hobbies, ‘Quarantine Leap’, and more!
Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
J: “My soul chose this dharma before it incarnated into this body. It was predestined. Getting to use my creative nature is where I shine brightest and I am the happiest. I’m so grateful to be on this path and I’m excited for what the future holds!”
Q: Tell us about your upcoming new character “Stella” in Netflix’s ‘Tall Girl 2”.
J: “I was so stoked to get to play such a bubbly character. I instantly saw her as this pure, authentic individual. She holds a lot of wisdom within her and I hope people see that when they watch. She pops in like a little fairy ready to explore and have fun.”
Q: What is your all-time favorite Netflix original show/movie besides ‘Tall Girl’?
J: “I love the series ‘Inside Job’. We love a good “adult” cartoon. I highly recommend, it’s a really funny show. ‘Nailed it’ is also a great one to watch if you’re looking for a laugh. You can tell they have a great time on there.”
Q: Who would be your dream co-star?
J: “That’s a tough one, I’m between Sarah Paulson & Jim Carrey. Not only are they extremely talented and I would learn so much just from seeing them in their element, they just seem like people I could sit and have deep conversations with.”
Q: You also wrote the web series “Quarantine Leap”. Would you ever write a series again?
J: “Absolutely. I have the workings of a storyline that I’d love to bring to life one day. I honestly just journal these things down when it comes to me so it’s very much in the early stages but it’ll manifest as it’s meant to. I’d love to collaborate with someone who could help me with the writing and bring it fully into fruition. But there will be a time for that.”
Q: When not acting, what are some of your favorite thing to do?
J: “I like to hang with my friends, we have really chill game nights with lots of laughs. I love them, they’ve made L.A. feel less lonely since moving out here. I also like to game, read, and I love a good nap haha.”
Q: What inspired you to become an animal activist?
J: “I’ve always loved animals, when I was younger I was obsessed with sharks. I still am. But in general, I want to help protect animals of all kinds. Wild or domesticated. There’s still a lot of work to be done to end animal cruelty. I would love to see animal testing become obsolete during my lifetime, as well as stricter regulations on breeding. I mean, ideally I’d like that to be illegal but I realize people use it as a way to make a profit, which I could delve deeper into but I’ll refrain for now. There are so many animals in shelters/rescues that have been abandoned and they are waiting to be loved. It breaks my heart. I wish I could duplicate myself and just adopt them all because then I know they’d get the life they deserve.”
Q: What are some of your biggest goals for your career?
J: “My dream is to be the lead in a killer action flick. I’ve always envisioned myself playing a secret agent, I’d want to do my own stunts for that for sure. That’s been #1 on my goal list. I’d also like to write, produce and direct at some point. And as a whole, I’m going use my platform to help make continued progress in the betterment of Earth and humanity.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
J: “You can check out my Instagram @johannaliauw.”
