This makeup artist is quickly becoming a beauty icon!
If you have watched any good show or movie, you have probably seen Igancia’s work. From everything from ‘The Hunger Games’ to ‘Vice’, she has completely shown off her amazing skills. Recently, she worked on the new and popular TNT series ‘CLAWS’.
We had the absolute honor of talking with Ignacia on some of her favorite makeup products, next career goal, and more!
Q: When did you first find your love of makeup?
I: “When I was a kid I thought my mother was the most beautiful being on Earth. I would often watch her get ready in the bathroom and be so amazed with this transformative process, not the physical one, but with her confidence. Definitely a large percentage of the times I’d get in trouble had to do with sneaking her makeup bag in my room and really going at it with her mascara. I think my favorite part about being an adult is being able to wear as much mascara as I want and no one yells at me. Oh and breakfast for dinner wherever and whenever!“
Q: What has been your favorite Film/TV Show to work on and why?
I: “Claws. People are always surprised that I work on scripted TV when they learn about my beauty makeup and fine art background. I transitioned to film because the part I love most about all of life is stories. Hearing them, reading them, telling them, and helping others tell them. I’m not a professional writer, but art- mainly this specific form of make up art, is my way of contributing to my favorite thing in the whole world. Claws creatives were really open to my ideas and it was an incredibly rewarding experience.
Q: You’ve worked with so many amazing celebs; Have you ever been starstruck?
I: “Years ago in a feature with a beautiful and pregnant Jessica Biel, a man walked in the makeup trailer excitedly. I figured it was an eager production assistant dropping off paperwork we were expecting. Next thing I know my frontal lobe quits working and I’m 15 again trying to contain my panic as an unexpected Justin Timberlake is shaking my hand. From where I was standing I acted like a total lunatic, but Jessica said I played it off convincingly. But then again, she may just have been trying to save me from a lifetime of embarrassment. She is an amazing actress after all.”
Q: What are your favorite/go-to makeup brands?
I: “There are so many amazing brands now! I love that professional products are so widely available for everyone. Prepping the skin for makeup is just, if not more important, than the makeup itself. For prep, not a day goes by that I don’t use Tatcha’s skincare line. For an even complexion, lately I’ve been obsessed with Nars’ Soft Matte Complete Foundation. It’s such a beautiful natural finish that looks great on and off camera“
Q: Which-One Is Your Favorite Look: Soft-Glam or Colorful-Powerhouse?
I: “They both have their moments, but I’m always thrilled when a client who usually goes for the more colorful statement looks lets me do my thing and give them a soft-glam. It’s always so rewarding to see a woman look in the mirror and fall in love with an accentuated uncorrected version of their own natural beauty.“
Q: What are some of your biggest goals for your career?
I: “If you would have asked me this 5 year ago my answer would have been to have a traveling career while also having the means to homeschool my son so he could travel along. Have the best of both of my worlds. Now that I’ve achieved that, and if by goals you mean crazy dreams, eventually I’d love to executive produce as a makeup department head on a series.“
