This actress just made waves in her newest project!
Mirabelle Lee is quickly making her way into the acting industry, much like her twin sister, Anais Lee. Mirabelle just recently starred as ‘Moriah’ in the Shudder Original Film “Slapface”.
We had the absolute honor of talking with Mirabelle on what she would be doing if she was not an actress, her dream role, and more!
If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?
M: “I would love to do a show with my sister Anais! Possibly a superhero show or a remake of some sort of twin film or show! I have always wanted to play a superhero or be in a show that involved some sort of magic so that’s would be super cool!”
What’s something we should know about the horror feature film “Slapface” that might surprise us?
M: “It might surprise you that there is an emotional aspect to the film. Not only will the movie have you clutching your seat in anticipation and fear, but it will have you reaching over to a nearby tissue box. That’s one of the things I love most about this movie; it doesn’t only make you cry and it doesn’t only make you scream. You get a bit of both.”
If you weren’t an actor, what would you be up to right now?
M: “If I wasn’t an actor, I would most likely want to become a screenwriters, author, or director! I have always loved writing and I would love to write my own book or script one day. I also have always been fascinated with camera and the visual aspects of film. When I am older, I would definitely love to pursue those careers as well as acting.”
What lessons have your characters from the new Apple TV Plus animated series “El Deafo” taught you?
M: “The El Deafo characters have taught me to always dream big and to use my imagination. While one of my characters, Ellen, isn’t the nicest person, other characters on the show have taught me to always have a broad imagination and to think creatively.”
What inspired you to be a part of the horror feature film “Slapface”?
M: “What made me want to be in Slapface was my love of horror films. My mom was always a huge horror fan so she got me into them. Ever since she snuck me into a screening of “The Curse of La Llorona”, I knew that my next goal was to be a part of a horror film. So when I got the audition for Slapface and read the script, I immediately fell in love with Moriah and all of the other characters.”
You have already been able to work with some impressive names so far in your career. Is there anyone you would love to work with someday?
M: “I would love to work with Zendaya or Ava DuVernay one day. I have been the biggest Zendaya fan ever since I was six years old, and to work on a project with her would be a dream come true. I admire her so much, from acting to fashion. I also love Ava DuVernay’s work. I think if I ever got the chance to work with her, I would never stop screaming out of pure joy. She tells such amazing and important stories through her work and she is definitely one of my role models for women in film.”
What is something people don’t understand about working in entertainment?
M: “Some things people don’t understand about working in film is that you get more no’s than you do yes’s. From the outside eye, you may think otherwise but in reality, no matter how successful an actor may be, we all face so many no’s. Working in the entertainment industry has taught me to be strong and not let the no’s hurt my feelings. I have learned that you always need to get back up, and use that experience to benefit you.”
How did you first get interested in becoming an actress?
M: “I knew I wanted to become an actress when I was working on the film Blood Ties when I was five years old. Before that, I was a model and didn’t know much about acting. But working on that project brought a whole new light to my eyes; a light that I never wanted to be shielded from again. I knew that whatever I was doing on that set, I wanted to keep doing it. Being on set is the place where I feel most comfortable and confident, because I am doing what I love.”
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
M: “Some people are surprised to know that I like to read more than I like to watch movies. With me being an actress, that may sound confusing. But, I have always been a big reader, even from a young age. I love escaping into a new world with books, discovering new people and even places all through words and paper.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
M: “You can see what I’m up to on my Instagram page @mirabellelee and @anaismirabelle! You can also follow me on Tik Tok at @anaismirabelle as well.”
