This young singer was born for this!
You may remember this amazing artist for her incredible performances as a contestant on “The Voice Kids Germany”. Now, she’s here with her debut EP entitled “Introducing Lilo”. And can we just say: we’re obsessed.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Lilo on ‘Better In Time’, favorite hobbies, and more!
Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
L: “I have been performing since I was 4 years old and it has always been my passion. I was in international touring musicals such as Cinderella, Shrek, Peter Pan, Evita and International touring plays like 1984 G.Orwell. I won first place in an International Vocal Competition and performed live in Carnegie Hall, NYC. At the same time I was a lot in front of the camera. My first big TV role was when I was 10 years old as a Lead Role in the 30 episode TV series “Ollie & Friends”. 2019 I booked another big TV show, The Singapore Grip. It was a huge international production which ran on BBC and ITV. I was the only child on set and the whole cast was so lovely, it was amazing – I had the best time on set. In the same year I participated in the live TV show The Voice Kids Germany. I was on live TV singing at the blind auditions and all 4 judges turned their chairs and started singing and dancing along. This was very special for me and inspired me to start writing my own songs as I really felt that I want to express myself through my own songs. I’m very excited that it finally happened. I poured many of my very personal experiences of the last years into the songs.”
Q: Tell us about your brand new EP “Introducing Lilo”.
L: “This EP summarizes lots of what happened in my life over the last years. From moving to a new country when I left Singapore and came to the US. I also reflect on all the tougher times and how really believing in my dreams always helped me. My EP contains 5 different songs that have different styles to them. Some ballads and some mid/ fast tempo songs!”
Q: If you had to pick, what song is your favorite on the EP and why?
L: “The song “Better in Time” is a beautiful emotional ballad. It’s about how there may be bumps in a life’s journey, but by believing in yourself and never giving up, things get better in time. I hope this song also inspires other young artists in believing in their dreams.”
Q: You also dabble in acting; what was it like to film the hit TV series “Ollie & Friends S4”.
L: “I played the lead role ‘Page’ in the Singapore Hit TV show Ollie Friends S4. We filmed 30 episodes. It involved acting, singing and dancing – so that was an amazing experience as I could combine everything that I love doing into one project. I had so much fun on set daily and we were all like a big family. I was super sad when we wrapped up the season.”
Q: When not singing, what are some of your favorite things to do?
L: “I love styling clothes, baking, drawing and all artsy things. All creative things just come Come naturally to me and I can relax while doing it.“
Q: Who is your biggest music inspiration, and why?
L: “There are many. One of my favorite artists who has also influenced me a lot is Taylor Swift. I love all of her songs – her melodies and the lyrics are very engaging. She is so powerful, and is such a nice person too. She started singing at a young age and worked so hard all her life. That inspires me as I can really relate to that. She also influenced me to write my own music and be able to express myself through it. Taylor is a real role model.”
Q: What are some of your biggest goals in your career?
L: “I would like further work on my singing and acting career. On the singing side I see myself to further try out different music styles and go on and record more songs. I’m in a phase where I like to experiment a lot to really find ‘my voice’. On the acting side I would like to continue to be part in TV and movie projects. I love being in front of the camera and that really energizes me. Maybe one day I can combine both my passions and film a musical.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
L: “All my socials are @lilobaier.”
