‘Cobra Kai’s Aedin Mincks on Mitch, Love of Lord Of The Rings, And Former Disney Role

This young actor is starring in our current favorite show!

Known for his roles in popular former projects, including Disney’s ‘Ant Farm’ and Oscar-nominated movie ‘Ted’, Aedin is back and better than ever in Netflix’s highly rated hit “Cobra Kai”.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Aedin on his first acting role, his favorite things to do, and more!

Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to act? 

A: “My brother and I were big fans of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and we would watch the movies all of the time. Like over and over. We then got the extended editions with the behind the scenes and we saw how much fun and that’s when we realized what acting was- and knew it was something we just had to do.”

Q: Do you remember your first role? What was it? 

A: “It was either Sarah Silverman Program – an episode called “Making New Friends” It had a terrible song that played and I had to lip- sync. It was really fun though. Or it was an episode of ER – I was a kid at a birthday party.”

Q: Tell us about your amazing new role in Netflix’s “Cobra Kai”. 

A: “My character Mitch joined Cobra Kai (in season 2) after seeing them win the All Valley Tournament in the first season and has been a loyalist to Hawk until he was kicked out of Cobra Kai. He’s currently a student of Johnny Lawrence’s new dojo, Eagle Fang.”

Q: Were you a fan of the original Karate Kid films?

A: “I only saw Jaden Smith/ Jackie Chan’s version, I watched the others once I booked the show.”

Q: Besides starring in our favorite projects, what are some of your favorite things to do?

A: “Archery, Gaming on my PC (currently Fallout 76) and hanging out with my girlfriend Lilly and all of our pups.”

Q: We have to mention your iconic role in Ant Farm. Are you surprised by how many fans still support the show? Would you ever be down for a reboot?

A: “I feel like ANT FARM was really underrated and deserved more seasons. It was a really well-written show. I would certainly be down for a reunion episode but I think we have all gotten too old to do a reboot unless we are all in College.”

Q: If you could star in a TV Show/Movie with any actor, who would it be and why?

A: “My initial goal was to work with everyone from the Lord of the Rings (Fellowship). So far, I have gotten to work with John Rhys- Davies and Sean Bean so, 2 down- 7 to go. To name one actor, I’d have to say, Johnny Depp. I have always been a big fan of his. Especially the Pirates of the Caribbean films.”

Q: What advice would you give to young actors who want to get into the industry? 

A: “Stay true to yourself and be confident in what you are bringing to the role, If it is meant to be yours it will be.”

Q: What are your biggest goals for your career?

 A: “I don’t care about winning any awards or anything like that, I just want to continue working and making great tv/ films.”
