Country-artist Amy Jack is well on her way to being a Nashville icon. Inspired by one of the greats, her music has reached the hearts of so many people around the world.
We had the absolute honor of talking with Amy on the Nashville music scene, her biggest inspiration, and her newest single “Worked All Week For This”.
Q: When did you first realize you wanted to start a music career?
A: “When I met Merle Haggard, I wanted to be just like him. He was so innovative and different. In the beginning when I was recording with him, I felt like maybe it wasn’t going to be possible. I couldn’t quite hit some of the notes that he asked me to but I finally figured it out.”
Q: Tell us about your newest single “Worked All Week For This”.
A: “The song is about working all week for the weekend. One Saturday, I was talking too much during a football game and my dad said to me “if you’re gonna talk, go outside, cause I worked all week for this.” And he was very serious, ha!”
Q: What is your favorite aspect of the music scene in Nashville?
A: “I continue to be in awe of the music talent in Nashville. And now it’s not only music talent, it’s art, fashion, filmmaking… and there’s more talent coming in every month from all around the country. I think the most amazing thing about Nashville specifically, is the incredibly friendly demeanor of everyone who is striving to challenge themselves and achieve greatness.”
Q: What has been your favorite experience of your career so far?
A: “Getting to work with and learn from Merle Haggard. His story is so inspiring and nothing really comes close to getting to know him. “
Q: If you could work with any artist on a song, who would it be and why?
A: “Toby Kieth. He’s a brilliant, creative, self made artist who is a true leader in country music and American values.”
Q: Can we expect more music from you this year?
A: “Oh, yes! I have a Chrstimas song that will be coming out soon. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”
Q: What are your biggest goals for your music career?
A: “Like everyone would tell you, a hit! But also, getting to tour and meet lifelong friends.”
