One of Tik Tok’s favorite dancers has still not shown her best!
A fan-favorite on her season of So You Think You Can Dance, Miranda Wilking has since worked with some of the biggest icons in the world, including Katy Perry and Janet Jackson. She is also a big influencer, raking up nearly 1 Million likes on Tik Tok alone.
We had the absolute honor of interviewing Miranda on all things dance journeys, her favorite experiences so far, and who she wants to collab with next.
Q: When did you first start your dancing journey?
H: ” I started my dancing journey at the age 2 years old. I grew up dancing competitively at a studio training in ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, pointe and hip-hop. My love for dance grew tremendously as I got older and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my career further. There, I went on backup dancing, teaching dance classes and performing with artists such as Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, Katy Perry, Janet Jackson and more.”
Q: What was your experience on “So You Think You Can Dance” like for you?
H: “My experience on So You Think You Can Dance was incredible. You have to be 18 years old to audition for the show and I actually just made the cut and auditioned on my actual 18th birthday. The judges, Jason Derulo, Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe, all sang happy birthday to me and sent me straight to Vegas. Vegas was so incredible and I met some really great people through that experience that are still great friends to this day.”
Q: Who has been your favorite dancer you have worked with?
H: “My favorite dancers that I have worked with are Twitch and Allison aka the Boss Family. They are such incredible people inside and out, and we always have such a great time hanging and filming together. It never feels like work when we collaborate and we always end up filming so much content together.”
Q: What is the biggest piece of advice you can give to your fans?
H: “The biggest piece of advice I can give is to constantly work hard at achieving your dreams. Be the hardest worker in the room and know that your hard work and dedication will pay off. Also, understand that everyone is different in their own way so never compare yourself to anyone else, there is no one like you.”
Q: What has been your favorite experience of your career so far and why?
H: “My favorite part of my career so far was a commercial I shot in Barcelona Spain. It was so amazing getting to dance and meet people from the other side of the world.”
Q: If you could dance with any celebrity, who would it be and why?
H: “If I could dance with any celebrity it would have to be Justin Bieber. I am a big fan of his music and think that he would really rock these videos I do.”
Q: What are your biggest goals for your career?
H: “My biggest goals for my career would have to be to make an impact on people all over the world to bring light and joy to everyone who watches my content.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
H: “You can follow my journey on Instagram: @mirandawilking TikTok: @mirandawilking1 Snapchat: @mirandadancer.”
