A real star in the making!
Singer-Songwriter Sheyda is the new artist to completely obsess over! Her new hit “Wish I Could Want You”‘s music video has already been viewed by over 100K people. Her tone is absolutely incredible and this new song deserves a spot in your summer playlist.
We had the honor of talking with Sheyda on all things music, big inspirations, and how she describes her sound.
Q: When did you first start your music career? What inspired you?
S: “I don’t know that there was ever really a “start.” I’ve loved music since I was a child and I took every opportunity that came my way.”
Q: Tell us about your brand new single “Wish I Could Want You”.
S: “Wish I Could Want You” is a fun summer song. I wrote it about a fling with someone I thought was perfect but turned out to be kind of a dud. It was a lot of fun to write and record, and making the music video was so exciting.”
Q: What has been your reaction to seeing over 200K views on your new music video?
S: “Honestly, I’m shocked! But I also knew that the song had such a fun vibe and not something I’ve heard a lot of people write about so I hoped people would hear it and think the same.”
Q: How would you describe your voice and music style?
S: “I think the words I’ve heard most to describe my voice have been “powerful” and “raspy.” My music style can generally fall under any particular umbrella but I play around in a lot of different genres. I don’t think artists should be bound in any box musically.”
Q: How would you describe California’s music scene?
S: “I think there’s a huge music scene in SoCal but it’s harder to find outside of that. I was really lucky to go to pretty musical schools growing up that helped cultivate my passion and education in the subject.”
Q: What is your songwriting process like?
S: “I usually start every session by talking about or writing down whatever is going on in my or others lives at the moment. I take a lot of inspiration from real life. From there it usually unfolds naturally. We will expand on a story or a topic and keep tweaking and working until it becomes a song.”
Q: If you could collaborate with any music artist, who would it be and why?
S: “That’s so hard for me to answer. It will change depending on my mood and the genre. I think there are some legends like Stevie Nicks or Lauryn Hill I’d love to write and perform with. Then there are more current artists like Post Malone or Diplo who I think would be awesome to collaborate with.”
Q: What are your biggest goals as a singer? Maybe a tour in the future?
S: “Yes, I would love to tour and also put out a full album!”
Q: Can we expect more music from you in the future?
S: “Absolutely, I have a lot more songs lined up for release and I can’t wait to get them out there for everyone to hear!”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
S: “I’m on almost all forms of social media, I’m most current with Instagram but you can find me on Facebook and Tik Tok as well!”
