This is a true child prodigy!
For the past few years, Freya Skye has been a rising name in the entertainment industry. Now, after giving us amazing original songs and incredible song covers, she is back with brand new single “I Love The Way”.
We had the honor of talking with Freya on all things working on music, music inspirations, and upcoming music:
Q: When not singing, what is your favorite thing to do?
F: “That’s a really tricky question because I find myself either singing or writing music 90% of the time – lol! I do love spending time with my family, whether it’s going on dog walks or watching a new Netflix series on the sofa. I also love filming new content for Instagram, like makeup tutorials, morning routines and the occasional funny video with my dad. I also love acting. My agent Mark Jermin teaches some great classes and has helped me find some amazing opportunities. I’m actually filming this summer!”
Q: Tell us about your new single “I Love The Way”
F: “I think there should be more music that is fun and cool for kids – that’s important to me when I write. I’m not trying to be older than I am, but I still want to sing and listen to great songs! My new single ‘I Love Way’ is different to my previous singles (Show Some Love & Famous) because I wanted to create a real summer banger that’s a feel-good, fun song. I wanted to write a song that the entire family could dance to in the kitchen or singalong on a road trip.”
Q: You recently started busking. What has the experience been like for you?
F: “Busking is something I’ve wanted to do, but I didn’t have the equipment or confidence to do it. I’ve spent so long writing and performing at home that I forgot what it was like to perform to an audience. I finally plucked up the courage and asked my mum to take me to Milton Keynes and it was the best decision ever! We found a great spot outside a McDonalds, and I sang my heart out – before I knew it, I had a crowd cheering me on and I received such a positive reception. I can’t wait to do it again!!”
Q: How do you balance singing and making music, while being in school?
F: “My school days can be pretty long and some days I don’t finish until 6pm, but like any other passion, whether that be football, dancing or playing an instrument, if you truly love something you always find the time. I’ll often get in from school, eat my dinner, fly through my homework and dash upstairs to record a new cover or write a song.”
Q: Who is your favorite singer, and why?
F: “I couldn’t possibly pick one singer as my favourite because so many artists inspire me for many different reasons, but I’m absolutely loving Olivia Rodrigo’s new music! She is so talented.“
Q: What has been your reaction to seeing so much success for your music?
F: “I’m always blown away by the reaction to my music and can’t thank everyone enough for their support and positive comments. I read through all my comments on my Instagram and it still doesn’t feel real… they are talking about me! lol! I am blown away that people actually take the time to write such lovely things to me! It’s crazy!! So grateful!”
Q: What are your biggest goals for your music career? Maybe a tour?
F: “Right now, I’m purely focused on writing enough music to release my debut EP, which I’m hoping will be ready for release early next year. Following that … who knows? I would love to tour the world one day and hear people singing the lyrics of my songs back to me – just the thought gives me goosebumps!”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
F: “You can find me on Instagram @iamfreyaskye and YouTube, Freya Skye. I am currently recording longer covers for my YouTube channel and I’m excited to post them. All my music is on Spotify and Apple Music too ☺”
