This up-and-coming country singer is a force to be reckoned with!
After a quiet year and a half of self reflection, and growth, Coulter felt it was time to take the initiative to perfect her brand and released her comeback single “Alone With U” in February 2021. And now she’s back again with brand new single “I Don’t Wanna Know”.
We are honored to have talked with Lyssa on all things performing, music goals, and new single:
Q: When did you start your career in singing?
L: “I’ve been singing my whole life, but my career started at 18 years old.”
Q: Tell us about your brand new single “I Don’t Wanna Know”
L: “I think a lot of times we tend to push ourselves away from the vulnerable moments in our lives to avoid the feeling of pain because a lot of times in our heads we create this illusion of pain being a forever thing. This song represents the emotions that I was pushing away at the time.
My good friend Molly Mae wrote this song based off of a concept I had suggested. She twisted the concept into this beautiful song that she had mentioned was inspired by a similar past situation with an ex and comparing his new relationship to the one they had.”
Q: If you could feature on a song with any artist, who would it be and why?
L: “Taylor Swift. Taylor has been an inspiration since the beginning. As I’ve grown as an artist I’ve not just admired her music and songwriting but also much of the behind the scenes into her social media and marketing.”
Q: What is your favorite part about performing on stage?
L: “My favorite part about performing in person is being able to see the audience’s reactions when you play a song that resonates with them. Being in their position as a fan when I see my favorite artists, I’m able to empathize with the emotional connection they have. Our favorite artists take us out of the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to create that for others.”
Q: What are your biggest goals for your career? Maybe a world tour?
L: “My biggest goals for my career headlining a sold out show at Gillette Stadium, performing in front of Cinderella’s Castle in Disney World (Disney Fanatic over here), and to have the opportunity to tour with artists that have inspired me (Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, Goo Goo Dolls, etc.).”
Q: What has been your favorite song of yours so far and why?
L: “The current one I put out “I Don’t Wanna Know” is probably my favorite. I felt this song gave me the opportunity to open up about myself and be myself a little more. I was able to share an emotion with my audience that I hadn’t in the past. I also love the fact that so many have been able to connect to it in a similar way I have.”
Q: Is there any message you want to give to your #CoulterCrew right now?
L: “This question gets me because there’s so much I could say…
First off, thank you for believing me in and in everything I do. I know many artists say it often, but its so true: I would not be able to have this career if it weren’t for all of you. You invest in me whether that be by showing up to a show, buying merch, streaming my music or just interacting with me over social media. Thank you for allowing me to live out my dreams.
The other piece to this is GO LIVE OUT YOUR DREAMS. Again, super cliche and over said, but I don’t see it being enough these days. ANYTHING is possible and the only person stopping you is yourself. Don’t be your own barrier. Step out of your comfort zone, be unapologetically you, and chase those dreams. Don’t let anyone stop you.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
L: “You guys can stay connected through LyssaCoulter.com, Facebook/IG @lyssacoulter and you can now keep in touch using my new number +1(615) 802-6943.”
