The girl group that is the talk of Tik Tok!
The Heichel sisters, known for their group name Sorelle, got their start performing on Nick’s “America’s Most Musical Family”. After starring of the show, the girls’s career blew up. Now, with new music and over 3 Million followers on Tik Tok, there are definitely no signs of stopping.
We had the absolute honor of interviewing Sorelle on all things music goals, listening to their song on the radio, and their music journey so far.
Q: What has been your favorite moment of your career so far?
Madi: “We’ve had a lot of great moments but our favorite so far was hearing our song ‘Ghost’ on the radio for the first time. Every Friday we do a TikTok Live broadcast at Starbucks and we try our fans favorite drinks. One Friday, on our way to Starbucks, we were listening to the local pop radio station and we heard the DJ say, “up next ‘Ghost’ by Sorellé”. I screamed, “turn it up!” So we turned the volume up as high as it could go and jammed out to our song. Everyone was commenting the lyrics like they were singing along with us! It was such a surreal moment. We hope that one day we will hear Ryan Seacrest announce our song on the top 40.”
Q: Tell us about your new song “Ghost”
Ana: “One morning I was in the shower humming random melodies when I started humming what turned into ‘Ghost’. I started screaming for Bella or Madi to grab my phone. They came running because they thought something was wrong. When they got there I was wiping the fog off the shower door so they could see my face. I said, “I have our next song! I don’t want to forget it so I need you to hold my phone over the shower door so that I can voice memo it.” ‘Ghost’ talks about a girl who wants nothing to do with her ex. However, he’s clueless that their once budding relationship is over and done with. Therefore, he keeps calling her, begging for another chance, not knowing he’s been ghosted. Later she reveals that she’s feeling good, almost like a new person because now she can live her life peacefully without being haunted by the memories of the relationship.”
Q: Have you guys always sung together, even before you became a group?
Madi: “We woke up to music playing throughout our home every day. Ana and I started singing together when we were 5 and 6 years old. Ana and I used to sing this duet called Sweet Adeline. It was our poppy’s favorite duet that we sang. We used to have something called an ojo which was FaceTime before actual FaceTime existed. Every night before we went to bed we would call our grandparents on the ojo and sing our poppy to sleep. We’d sing it and he would go on and on about how he loved it and us. Even before Bella could actually talk Ana and I would sing a song around her and she would just start harmonizing. It was crazy!”
Q: What has been your reaction to seeing so much support from your fans?
Madi: “We honestly still can’t wrap our heads around the fact that we have millions of fans. I remember when Ana and I started social media we were 10 and 12. We never could’ve imagined it would grow this much but we are so thankful! Our goal in life is to do what we love with the people we love most all while making a positive impact and giving back to the world. Every day we get to do just that because of our fans. On one of our recent TikTok Live broadcasts a fan came in and told us that she was having a hard time at school due to a bully. The one thing getting her through this difficult time was our song “Ghost”.
The second I read that comment I almost started crying. I was so happy that our music could help her get through such a hard time. It means the world to us knowing that we can help make someone’s day brighter through our music. Many of our fans have been watching us for years, so it feels like we have grown up together. We consider many of them friends.”
Q: What was your experience on the Nickelodeon show “America’s Most Musical Family” like?
Ana: “The greatest thing about being on “America’s Most Musical Family” was adding Bella to the group. Growing up it was just Madi and I singing together because Bella was so much younger than us, but we always knew that someday she’d join the group! I remember when we asked her to join she was jumping up and down! Bella looked at both of us with her big eyes and said, “Yes! Yes! Yes! Did you even have to ask!!” I remember perfectly when we were waiting to perform our first song “All About That Bass.”. We had performed hundreds of times but this was different. It was bigger. We were literally standing right next to Nick Lachey which was crazy! As we got closer to our performance time Madi and I got more and more nervous.
Bella, the baby of the family, was the least nervous. She was trying to calm us down. She kept whispering, “Ana, Madi breath we’ll be ok. We’re gonna rock this!” Once we walked out there and took our positions the nerves went away. We heard the music start, we looked out into the audience and gave it our all. In that moment in time, standing on that stage in front of that live audience, we knew that this was what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives. We were genuinely happy on that stage. When people like Ciara, Debbie Gibson, and Nick Lachey, who we have listened to for years and are successful and well respected tell you that you have a real future in the music industry….well, you start believing in yourself.”
Q: Do you guys have any special projects in the works?
Bella: Yes! We’re working with some amazing writers and producers, and we have some new songs that we can’t wait to share with everyone! Hopefully very soon… We also are working on our Sorellé merch store, and we continue to sell our Sorellé bracelets made from organic recycled materials that give jobs to at risk women. 30% of the proceeds that we earn from the bracelet’s go to the Hunger Project to help end hunger and poverty.
Q: What are your music career goals? Would you ever want to go on tour?
Ana: “We’d love to go on tour when things get back to normal. In the meantime we go live on TikTok every Wednesday night. Music has always been an escape for us so we’ll be putting out more songs soon! When I have a bad day or need a few minutes of peace I pop my earphones in and listen to my favorite songs. It’s been a tough year for everyone and we want to give people the chance to escape from the real world with our music.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
Bella: “Please follow us on all our social media platforms at Sorellé and or sorellemusic. Our website is sorellemusic.com. Hope to see you all there!’
