Now, Lauren Spencer-Smith is still going strong in her music career, Gaining over 10 million streams on her music. We had the honor to talk with Lauren on all things music, American Idol, and more.
Q: Where do you see your music career in 5 years time?
L: “I’ve always wanted to sell out “BC place” the big stadium near my hometown. It’s a huge dream of mine to tour and share music with the world that people connect to and love. I of course would love to have a number 1 record and be on the charts but another goal of mine is just to have fun during the process of writing, performing and making friends without taking any moment for granted!”
Q: What has been your favorite song to sing, and why?
L: “My favorite song to sing changes as time goes by because I fall in love with new music but if I had to choose one I always go back to “ Always remember us this way “ by Lady Gaga because me singing that song in my viral video is what jump started my career so I have a big attachment to the song itself!”
Q: How did you first get into singing?
L: “I don’t know if there was ever a specific moment I decided I liked music. Ever since I was young I was singing lyrics in the car and performing in the living room begging for all the attention as young children like to do. I think I have always had this crazy passion for music and always sang since I was able to speak. As I got older I got better and started I take it more seriously but I’ve known I’ve wanted to do music as a career since I was almost 7 years old.”
Q: You have had over 5 Million streams on your music. What has been your reaction to your success from your music?
L: “I still cannot believe the amount of streams, love and support I have received throughout all my platforms. To think that one of my covers has almost 8 million streams is unimaginable and hard to explain. I burst with joy being able to say that. It makes me feel very appreciative but also proud that my hard work is paying off.”
Q: How was your experience on American Idol?
L: “My experience on American idol was nothing but fun! Endless laughs with all the friends I made while learning so much about who I am as a performer and singer along the way. Yes the show is hard work and stressful at times but it’s such a positive experience and you grow so much as a person!”
Q: What have you been doing with your musical career currently?
L: “Lately I have been in writing/recording sessions all day and night. I’ve been non-stop working on original music. Writing about boys and my teenage drama is starting to become a second nature lol! Currently I am getting many of my songs produced and deciding which ones to release first and when so stay tuned because it’s going to be sooner than later!’
Q: Is there a specific artist you dream to collaborate with?
L: “An artist I would love to collaborate with is Julia Michaels. Her song Writing and lyrics are INSANE. Not only is she one of the most incredible writers she is an amazing singer herself. A lot of my song writing inspiration sparks from listening to Julia’s music so collaborating with her would be a dream!”
Q: How did it feel to be nominated for the 2020 JUNO award?
L: “Being nominated for a Juno award was the most unexpected but most heartwarming experience ever! I had no clue I was even in the running to be nominated for an award yet alone actually get nominated. I remember that moment like it was yesterday I was jumping for joy (literally). I’m so honored and grateful for that.”
Q: Do you think you will go on tour once the pandemic is over?
L: “YES I will for sure be performing and going on tour once the pandemic is over. I love being on stage and sharing my music and voice with the world so I can’t wait to start that again!”
