We can’t get enough of our March coverstar, Samarah Conley! A true triple threat, this award-winning actress is truly an actress star! From tv shows, to movies, she can nail any role.
We talked with the young actress on all things acting, balancing work and school, and her music career!
Q:What inspired you to pursue acting?
S: “When I was younger, I enjoyed watching shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. I was always inspired by the young actors and actresses on the shows and really wanted to be able to do what they did. My parents always told me to follow my heart and to go for my dreams and that’s what I have been striving for since a young age. I am so fortunate to be on this journey.”
Q: What actors/actresses do you hope to work with in the future?
S: “I would love to have the opportunity to work with Adam Sandler and Millie Bobby Brown. Adam Sandler is such a talented and funny actor. I enjoy his movies immensely. My favorite movie of his is Billy Madison. I also love Millie Bobby Brown in Stranger Things. She is such a strong actress and to work with her would be so amazing.”
Q:Do you have any goals you want to accomplish as a musical artist?
S:“I plan on continuing my singing career by writing, recording, and releasing more songs on all music platforms. My latest single “Movin’ On” recently won Best Original Song at the IndieBoom! Festival. It has also been accepted to several music/film festivals and I have recently been invited to go to Los Angeles to perform it live at the New Media Film Festival in June. I also enjoy performing covers and sharing the videos on social media in a series I call Social Media Sessions With Samarah (SMSWS).”
Q: What are your future goals as an actress?
S: “I look forward to continually working hard as an actress to hopefully one day become a co-star on a network television series. Currently, I am a co-star in two projects, How Am I Doing? and Demonico, which are both being shopped to several networks. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Recently, I won Best Lead Actress in a TV Series for How Am I Doing? at the Skyline Performer Awards. I would also love to land more supporting and leading roles in feature films. I really enjoy working and learning from so many talented people on set.”
Q:”As an actress, what is one thing that you struggle with the most?
S:“The one thing I’d say I struggle the most with is balancing my school work load with auditions. Since the start of middle school, I have been a high honor roll student. Currently, I am taking advanced Science and Math classes and I am also in National Junior Honor Society. The demands of school are challenging to say the least, but I always put my schoolwork before everything else. When I do get a big audition or several auditions at once, it certainly can be a struggle. I have learned over the years to prioritize and not procrastinate. Not procrastinating is key. I get my school work finished first and then focus on auditions as they come.”
Q: As of now, what is your favorite movie that you worked on?
S:“I have two favorite movies that I worked on. My first favorite movie that I worked on was Last Vermont Christmas which airs on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. This was my first lead role in a TV Movie and I got to spend three weeks on set which was such a fun experience. The cast and crew were absolutely amazing and I loved working with Erin Cahill and Justin Bruening. The director David Jackson was such a good director too. I learned a lot from him on set. I was so honored to have won Best Lead Actress in a TV Movie at the 2020 Young Artist Awards for my role.\n\nMy second favorite movie that I starred in is a short film entitled, \”A\” My Name Is which was written and directed by Sarah Schwab and is about a young girl with terminal cancer. Sarah asked me to write a song for this film which was my first released single entitled \”Broken Wing\”. I was again honored to win three awards for Best Lead Actress in a Short Film at the NICE International Film Festival, Young Entertainer Awards, and NOVA Star Awards.”
